Mastering Perceptions: Changing Your Perceptions Part 2: Editor (Dr. Larry Lester, PhD) First, an athlete must have internal control over their thoughts, perceptions, reactions, focus, confidence, emotions, and goals. And, this is a difficult task. Mental and emotional skills like these provide athletes with tools that strengthen the way they see, think, feel, and perform. Second, don't jump to conclusions, because you'll become consumed with thoughts about what it means that you saw or heard. And Last, stop interpreting every word that someone is saying, or every sound that you hear. Concentration is key to focusing on the tasks (action plan) that you have already set for today.
