What’s Going On?
I have heard Mavin Gaye’s popular version of the song “Abraham, Martin and John” running through my thoughts for a couple of weeks. The song was written by Dick Holler but Marvin Gaye made it an anthem. The song refers to Abraham Lincoln, Martin Luther King, Jr. and John Kennedy and their efforts to build peace and the price they paid. Peace building is in high demand right now. King reminds us of our role in this work.
We are now faced with the fact that tomorrow is today. We are confronted with the fierce urgency of now. In this unfolding conundrum of life and history, there "is" such a thing as being too late. This is no time for apathy or complacency. This is a time for vigorous and positive action.

Leadership and Liminality
My friend and colleague, Joanne Murphy has just published a paper titled “Leadership, liminality and ‘wicked’ conflicts: John Hume and the untangling of the Northern Ireland ‘Troubles.’ ?Murphy brings forward the principle of liminality as a strategic and tactical strategy of leadership. She identifies 5 moves for leading through difficult, wicked problems. If this is the world you lead in, Joanne’s work will help.
Wales v. South Africa Rugby
As an American in the Basis family, the team has always welcomed me and included me in both work and social activities. Now they have gone one step further and invited Theresa (my partner) and I to the Wales vs. South Africa Autumn International Test Match on November 23rd in Cardiff. We are brushing up on our rugby rules. There are Basis loyalists representing both teams so I have made myself available as a supporter for either team. For a small fee of course. I’m keen to understand what a Ruck and Maul are all about. I have a good idea what a Sin Bin is though. I am after all a full supporter of the NHL’s Seattle Kraken.
