Mastering Memorization

On my own, I am not the best at remembering things. But as you may know,
I am always looking for tips, tricks, and hacks to do things better, faster, and
more effectively.
This is one that was taught to me and is used by memorization professionals;
folks who compete in contests and remember and recall of things.
In essence, it involved building a story around a building, castle or home, and
the rooms in that structure.
I’m going to keep this simple to give you the general idea. I'm just going to
teach you just a few things that lead to great brain health, brain energy, and
the ability to be really, really sharp and clear.
Now, this is interactive. Fair warning: you’re going to need to actually do
something.
Look at the words below:
Food
ANTS
Exercise
Supplements
Look at each of those words and read them out loud.
Now for the story...
You have a car, and it's a beautiful car. You have a meeting at an office
building, and you're driving your car to that office building. You pull into a
parking space, your parking space. It has your name on it. You get out of
the car, and right in the space next to you is your dad.
Your dad has on these tiny little Speedos like you wear in a swimming
contest in the Olympics. You are so embarrassed you're ready to die because
he is
not
the person that should be wearing these tiny little Speedos. He has
a grill in the middle of this office parking lot, and he's grilling up steaks. You
are thinking "This is absurd, but I got to get to this meeting."
You are about to go over a little bridge that leads to your office building, but
there are thousands of ants on the bridge, and you're afraid. But then you
see Wonder Woman, and Wonder Woman is stomping out all of these ants
and using her golden lasso and killing ants right and left.
You go over the bridge, give her a high five, head into the office building into
the elevator. The elevator opens, and you're going all the way to the top
floor, like 30 floors up. Then you realize, “Oh my gosh, if I just jump and
down, I can be weightless for a fraction of a second each time I do it.” So,
you start jumping up and down.
Then lastly, the door opens, but you can't leave because life-size bottles of
vitamins and other supplements are trying to get into the elevator. You're
thinking, “How rude, I should be going out of the elevator before any of these
bottles of supplements try and come in. They're huge. They're almost six feet
tall, but they're squishy, so they don't hurt when they hit you.
You work your way out, and you're trying to get down the hall. You can't get
all the way down the hall because all these supplements with little feet and
little hands are trying to get into the elevator.
The idea is that you can now think through the story and you have all the
words. One thing you need to do to have good brain health is control the
food you eat.
You need to control your automatic negative thoughts or “ANTS”.
You need to exercise.
And you need to take the proper supplements.
Boom.
If you check this out a week from now, a month from now, I'll bet you can
remember those things

5 年Great story Richard. I thought I was in a weird dream but I loved the close. Thanks you made my day. ??
When I was a kid, I remember learning the Periodic Table. I had such a poor memory and I had to memorize the elements for my science tests. My dad would come up with silly phrases to help me remember (i.e. Do you want salt? Na.) That always sparked a connection for me. Or learning new names... my professor taught us to associate any old thing with a person’s name; such as, Courtney cake lol. It was crazy, but it worked.
