Scoring the Survey

  • Add up the scores for each section to get a total score for each emotional intelligence component.
  • The highest possible score is 125 points (25 questions, maximum of 5 points each).

Interpreting Your EI Score

  • 100-125 Points (High EI) You have a strong emotional intelligence and can effectively manage emotions, understand others, and build strong relationships. You are likely seen as empathetic and adaptable, making you effective in personal and professional interactions.
  • 75-99 Points (Moderate EI) You have a fairly good emotional intelligence but may struggle with certain aspects, like controlling emotions in tough situations or deeply understanding others’ feelings. Some focused effort in weaker areas can enhance your interpersonal effectiveness.
  • 50-74 Points (Average EI) You possess average emotional intelligence. You may struggle with managing stress, understanding emotions (yours or others’), or resolving conflicts. Enhancing your self-awareness and empathy will greatly improve your EI.
  • Below 50 Points (Low EI) Emotional intelligence is an area you might need to develop. Low EI often results in impulsive behavior, difficulty handling stress, and challenges in forming strong interpersonal relationships. Building awareness, regulation, and empathy can significantly improve your interactions.

This survey was very insightful. I can definitely see areas of improvement. I had not taken the time prior to conduct a self analysis on my Emotional Intelligence. I am definitely going to take the more comprehensive survey. I have learned more about myself. Thanks Elga for sharing.
