I have conversations every day with someone about AI and I find many people struggle with how to effectively prompt ChatGPT or other Gen AI Tools. In many case they are ignoring the potential Gen AI Tools. This can be a significant oversight, as leveraging the right techniques can dramatically improve your problem-solving capabilities. Here are seven prompts that can help you transform your interactions with ChatGPT from zero to hero.
1. Five Whys Technique
Prompt: "Act like a Root Cause Analyst. Begin by identifying the problem related to [topic]. Now, ask 'why?' this problem exists. Repeat the question 'why?' four more times, digging deeper into each layer to uncover the root cause. Summarize your findings and suggest potential solutions."
Description: The Five Whys technique helps in identifying the root cause of a problem by repeatedly asking "why" until the fundamental issue is uncovered. This method is essential for thorough problem analysis and solution development.
2. TRIZ (Theory of Inventive Problem Solving)
Prompt: "Act like an Inventive Problem Solver. Utilize TRIZ principles to systematically solve problems related to [topic]. Identify contradictions and apply inventive principles to resolve them. Outline your steps and findings, explaining how the TRIZ methodology was applied."
Description: TRIZ is a problem-solving, analysis, and forecasting tool derived from the study of patterns of invention in the global patent literature. It helps in identifying and overcoming contradictions in creative problem-solving.
3. Ishikawa Diagram (Fishbone Diagram)
Prompt: "Act like a Quality Improvement Specialist. Build an Ishikawa diagram to explore the causes of a problem related to [topic]. Break down each main branch into finer details, exploring root causes and relationships. Provide insights into potential solutions and preventive measures."
Description: The Ishikawa Diagram, or Fishbone Diagram, is used to systematically identify and present all the possible causes of a problem. This tool is beneficial in quality management and defect prevention.
4. Zwicky Box (Morphological Analysis)
Prompt: "Act like a Complex Systems Analyst. Utilize a Zwicky Box to systematically explore all possible solutions for [topic]. Define dimensions, attributes, and interactions within the system. Explain how you developed the combinations and their relevance to [topic]."
Description: The Zwicky Box is a method for exploring all possible solutions in a complex problem space. It helps in identifying new combinations and configurations of system attributes to uncover innovative solutions.
5. Affinity Diagram
Prompt: "Act like an Organizational Psychologist. Organize ideas related to [topic] into an affinity diagram. Group concepts by natural relationships, providing explanations for each category. Analyze the groupings and how they provide a coherent understanding of [topic]."
