Mastering Change in Challenging Times

There's so much change going on in the world right now?that you'd be forgiven for feeling frazzled, overwhelmed or burned out.

Therefore, I've made?this is a short and sharp update.

While clarity of purpose provides an anchor for strategy when the seas are rough and unpredictable, few organisations are saying: "Wait on, let's rework our purpose, that will solve everything".

Purpose is part of the solution, not the solution.

According to long-time strategy gurus at Bain, the basis for achieving enduring competitive advantage is different today than in the recent past.

Instead of being about detailed planning, it's about general direction. It's less about anticipating how the world will change and more about being really good at rapid testing, learning and adaptation.?Instead of effective strategy, it's?about being an effective organisation.

Purpose supports several of these elements. For example, it sets the general direction and should play a strong role in aligning?people, operations and strategy to improve?organisational effectiveness.

However there's?also a range of human and technical skills that must come together when?navigating?change in challenging conditions.

This is why I've elevated the purpose conversation to the higher level of transformation and change because that's what's needed right now.

After all, effective purpose-driven leaders aren't just good at 'purpose' alone, they have business smarts too. There's the 'who', 'what' and 'how' to go with the 'why':

Key elements of the change process.

If you need support?with?your change processes or want to know how to have these conversations in your organisation or industry, you're welcome to message me or book a sounding board session.

You can also check out these change mastery?speaking and workshop outlines.

Thanks for the work you do in making the world a better place.
