When I ask this question, lots of my clients cannot define it.

Many reasons for this, but if anything, the thing that becomes a blind spot is that success is defined by doing. By being there.

When it comes to the job search, per my experience with clients, success is typically defined by building relationships, and consistently deliver value that far exceeds expectations.

Additionally.

I’ve seen time and time again that balancing the foundational principles of business with personal growth is the real game-changer.

In this newsletter, we'll unpack how to navigate these challenges and thrive, drawing on insights from a recent strategy session.

1. Understanding the True Value of ROI in Business Transactions

During one of our Master Class sessions, we emphasized the importance of understanding Return on Investment (ROI) when assessing the value of business engagements.

One key takeaway was a goal of achieving a tenfold return on investment.

This principle is essential: when you enter a deal, whether you're the service provider or the client, ensure that the value delivered aligns with or surpasses the cost.

This isn’t just a transactional mindset but a strategic approach to business growth.

One needs to have a clear understanding of the value you’re providing and always aim to deliver more than what’s expected.

This mindset fosters long-term client relationships and ensures repeat business, a point echoed strongly during the meeting.

Translate this to your professional career, where your employer is your client.

And you're there.


2. Balancing Personal Development with Business Responsibilities

One of the core issues discussed in our Master Class, was how to balance personal development goals with work responsibilities.

The conversation, particularly with our client Ed, touched on the need to create a sustainable work-life balance while striving for personal growth.

The pressure of financial commitments can be overwhelming, especially when juggling multiple projects and deadlines.

But this is specifically the point where one has to hone in on from a Self-Image perspective. Not letting external factors "rock your boat".

Put it this way - we can only excel in our professional endeavors when we’re in a balanced state of mind. Personal development—whether it’s mastering time management or sharpening self-belief—plays a critical role in helping you stay grounded while navigating the complexities of business.

For Ed, building a "support team" to handle his workload effectively was one of the key action steps, allowing him to focus on high-impact activities.


3. Relationship Management (AKA Networking): The Key to Business Growth

Let's go into sales for a second.

In today’s B2B space, client relationship management isn’t just a nice-to-have—it’s vital to survival.

We discussed how anything over $12,000 to $15,000 is considered a high-ticket item, particularly in the realm of virtual CIO services.

While larger corporations can absorb these costs, the challenge arises when clients aren’t fully engaged in the process.

This highlights a critical business development challenge: ensuring that clients are committed to the outcomes you’re delivering.

The next steps focused on creating effective client relationship management strategies to retain clients and ensure they’re fully invested in the success of the projects.

If you can master this, not only will you retain clients, wether that is in the corporate world, you're a consultant, or you're a service provider or business owner.

Building long-lasting relationships is pivotal to scaling your career.


4. The Power of “Congruent Pre-suasion” in Business Success

Congruent pre-suasion is the art of positioning yourself as the obvious choice before your first interaction.

In practical terms, it means aligning your professional persona with your self-image, ensuring that your potential employer or client sees you as the ideal partner before you even start a conversation.

As a career strategist who’s landed top positions, I’ve seen firsthand how this strategy works.

The same principles apply whether you’re seeking your dream job or closing a business deal.

Subtle positioning before the interaction gives you a competitive edge—you're not just another service provider; you're the solution.
