For home cooks or holiday cooks, if you are short of kitchen equipment then you can wrap a bundle of apsaragus in foil and put it standing up in a pan with a lid and 2 to 3 cm of water and it will par steam pretty well in under 5 mins. I would then fry it with some olive oil and salt. Very basic cooking and won't win on presentation, but will taste great.
