Mastering the Art of Networking: 5 Tips for Women Entrepreneurs.

Welcome to the first edition of the MomLink Newsletter! Our goal is to keep you informed, inspired, and connected in the world of women entrepreneurship. In this issue, we're focusing on the art of networking. As a woman entrepreneur, building a strong professional network is essential for your success. We'll share five tips to help you make meaningful connections that can open doors for your business.

In this week's Featured Article, we're diving into the essential world of networking for women entrepreneurs. Building a robust professional network can be a game-changer for your business, opening doors to new opportunities, partnerships, and valuable insights. But networking isn't just about exchanging business cards – it's about forging genuine, long-lasting connections that can propel you and your business forward. So, let's explore our top five networking tips that will help you make meaningful connections and give your entrepreneurial journey a boost!

  1. Be genuine and authentic: When networking, focus on building genuine connections rather than collecting business cards. Be yourself and aim to create long-lasting relationships based on mutual trust and support.
  2. Prepare your elevator pitch: Craft a concise and compelling elevator pitch that highlights your business's unique value proposition. Practice it regularly so you can confidently introduce yourself and your business at any networking event.
  3. Ask open-ended questions: Encourage conversation by asking open-ended questions that prompt others to share their experiences, challenges, and successes. This approach not only helps you learn from others but also demonstrates your genuine interest in their stories.
  4. Follow up: After making a new connection, follow up with a personalized message, referencing your conversation and expressing your interest in staying in touch. This simple gesture can go a long way in nurturing your professional relationships.
  5. Leverage social media: Use LinkedIn and other social media platforms to connect with fellow entrepreneurs, join industry groups, and engage in conversations. These platforms can be a valuable resource for expanding your network and staying informed about industry trends.

Expert Spotlight: LaChelle Adkins America’s Supermom

As a mother of 15 children, I have to be successful at networking. I have so many teachers and fellow parents that I meet monthly at parties, school events, field trips and play dates. My children have been the catalyst for a lot of my networking success. I have learned so much information about deals, restaurants, recreational fun, etc from others freely in my community. So I have a few tips to share about networking.

First, be approachable.

Do people believe that you would have insight that they can learn from? If the answer is yes that is GREAT but do they feel comfortable enough to ask you for that insight. I have learned the hard way that having everything but no one to share it with was a lonely place to be. I was an only child with many material possessions but no one to play them with. So I adapted to the idea that relationships mean more to me than material things that truly come and go.?

Two, Ask.

My mom would always remind me when I was younger that no one was a mind reader. If you want something, be clear about it and ask. The worst thing that can happen is that the answer will be no. However, you can guarantee a NO if you do not ask. I was blessed to interview the founder of BNI, Dr. Ivan Misner who is named the Father of Modern Networking by simply asking him to connect on LinkedIn. We have connected and I have had the pleasure of interviewing him 3 times. Not possible if I never took the time to ask because I am sure that our paths would not have crossed without having intention to connect.?

Third, take notes.

Document what you learn from your connections. Birthdays, other kids, events and fun facts. If you are taking your child to their friend’s home then keep the address in your phone with contact. We often gather a lot of information in everyday conversation yet we do not remember it when we need to. Taking notes helps you to build a better relationship around the interests of the new connections.

I appreciate what you are making available to Moms! Mine are now grown and parenting. I think daily about what it took to stay present, be aware of my child's needs while I considered my own and focused on accomplishing results. Its possible when you have clear values and make time to invent, from a Possibility, your ideal future. Then, break them down into actionable steps and put occasions for accomplishment on your calendar. You don't have to be perfect. You have to stay present in each moment of now, now, now.
