As I've ventured through the exciting journey of building LeapX (our AI-driven Digital Advertising Solution for SMBs), I've become somewhat of an ad detective, meticulously dissecting every ad I come across on platforms like Facebook, Google, and Instagram.
And eventually, I've unearthed some intriguing takeaways and insights into what really makes an advertisement (especially video ads) strike a chord. So here are a few nuggets:
1. The Good Guy vs. Bad Guy Approach:
- Just like in movies, ads need a hero and a villain.
- In this case, the villain is a subpar problem, and your product swoops in as the hero. How?
- Start by highlighting the nemesis, shake up the audience with the problem, and then reveal your product as the knight in shining armor.
- Wrap it up with a clear call to action
2. The Oh No to Aha Method:
- Drama is key here.
- Present a problem that feels like a soap opera twist, amplify the agony, and then – plot twist – introduce your product as the saving grace.
- Remember to back it up with undeniable evidence that it works
3. The Objection Overruler Strategy
- Think of this as a courtroom drama where you're addressing every accusation (objection) against your product.
- Tackle each one with finesse.
- Close with a CTA that feels like a jury's unanimous verdict in your favor.
4. The Show and Tell Format
- Here, simplicity is your best friend.
- Show your audience exactly how your product can solve their problem, in the easiest, most straightforward way possible.
- It's like explaining a magic trick without losing the magic.

5. The Educator Extraordinaire Plan
- Start with identifying your target audience
- Make it engaging with proof or social validation
6. The BuzzFeed Approach:
- Ever read a BuzzFeed listicle and found yourself hooked?
- That's the power of listing out reasons or problems in a way that's easily digestible.
- It's simple, it's catchy, and it ends with a compelling CTA.
7. The Keeping up with the Joneses Technique:
- Tap into the fear of missing out by using social proof
- It's about creating a buzz that makes your audience think, “Hey, I want in on this too!”
8. The Hollywood Blockbuster Blueprint:
- This is the grand narrative – grabbing attention like a thrilling movie trailer,
- building interest and desire with a compelling storyline (think social proof or success stories),
- and ending with an offer that’s too good to refuse.
In essence, the world of advertising is a fascinating blend of storytelling, psychology, and creativity.
By leveraging these templates, you can transform your ads from mere commercials to compelling narratives that resonate with your audience.
Make ads that don't just sell but tell a story!
