Hello All! Welcome to another enlightening edition of "Mind Your Success"! This week, we're diving deep into the world of decision-making – a skill that can truly transform your life and propel you toward unprecedented success. As always, we are following my new success group that is diving into these topics further to get at the core of what our success is and how the most stressful moments in our lives will trap us into letting go of our path toward success and allowing our past to take over our present. Every week, the Wellness Group explores new educational material built around Dialectical Behavioral and Cognitive Behavioral Therapeutic principles. This material helps us look at our health holistically. We go through every important aspect of well-living: Mental Health, Physical Health, Financial Health, Relationships, Work Life Balance, Negotiating Our Value, Finding and Keeping Friends, and Building and Obtaining Life Goals.

During the group discussions, participants are encouraged to share their own connections and stories with the material.  The group model allows for validation and insights on how to overcome our biggest barriers. 

Common goals for participants of the Wellness Group Program include how to achieve financial independence, retire early, find value for yourself, live a fulfilled and balanced life, find career happiness, and build meaningful and engaging relationships/friendships.

Analysis paralysis is the enemy of progress. To cultivate an action-oriented state:

1. Set clear, achievable goals

2. Break big decisions into smaller, manageable steps

3. Embrace the "two-minute rule": If a task takes less than two minutes, do it immediately

I was born and raised in Florida, did my undergraduate at Florida State University and moved to Virginia to attend Eastern Virginia Medical School, where I studied clinical counseling and received my Master’s in Art Therapy. As a military spouse, I relocated many times and redeveloped my career at each duty station. ?? Challenging Your Limiting Beliefs

?

Your beliefs shape your reality. It's time to question those self-imposed limitations:

?

- Identify a belief that's holding you back

- Ask yourself: "What evidence do I have that this belief is true?"

- Seek out examples that contradict your limiting belief

- Create a new, empowering belief to replace the old one

?? The Socratic Method: Your Secret Weapon for Better Decisions

Socrates, the ancient Greek philosopher, developed a powerful questioning technique that can revolutionize your decision-making process:

?

1. Clarify your thoughts: "What exactly do I mean by...?"

2. Challenge assumptions: "Is this always the case?"

3. Seek evidence: "How do I know this is true?"

4. Explore alternatives: "What other possibilities exist?"

5. Consider implications: "What might be the consequences of this decision?"

?

This method allows you to begin to build insight and break through the emotions of decision-making. You can pose these questions to yourself, staff, fellow leaders, or even parents and children. It is non-threatening and should not pose defensiveness when you say, "Let's explore this a little; I want to know more."
