??Mastering The Art Of AI Prompting????♂?

Welcome back,?Tars ?Family!

If you log into?LinkedIn right now and search?Prompt Engineer — I guarantee you'll find that?thousands?of businesses across the world just happen to be?looking for one.

Pause for a second and think how?insane?this is.?

A whole profession that didn't exist until 2021 is now a?highly in-demand career option?—?so much so that there's?even a separate job portal ?for prompt engineers only ????

The screenshot of this?mundane?job portal begs two?questions:

??What does?Prompt Engineering?actually?entail? ??How important is it?really?to accelerating our AI-powered future??

Surprisingly, the best best framework I've discovered for answering these two key questions happens to be?blind?dating!

Imagine?each interaction with an?LLM ?to be a?blind date?by-default. Technically your experience could be?horrible, it could be?spectacular, or it could be anything in between?—?but chances are you'll be going home disappointed (unless your expectations are rather low).

What's?the?secret?then?to a successful blind date??

A matchmaker?who helps you?get the?best out of the?date?—?by?understanding your preferences,?and then?setting you up with the?person that's just perfect for you.

In a nutshell that's what?Prompt Engineering?is.?A fantastic?matchmaker that makes?impeccable AI dates possible.?

But prompting advice (especially on Twitter)?seems to be a dime a?dozen. How should a?CIO or as CX Leader?actually?go about?picking the right prompt engineering strategy?for their problem?

?This week's?Spotlight Feature?is dedicated to answering that exact question.

But before we dive further in, lets first take a look at?what?Team Tars ?has been working on?????

??? What's ?? at Tars ?

??What's Team Tars Is Reading???Capgemini ?recently published a brilliant new industry survey?titled "Harnessing The Value of Generative AI ".?

Here's the standout bit:?nearly all executives (96 percent)?in the survey cite generative AI as a?hot topic of discussion?in their respective?boardrooms.?Pat Geraghty, CEO of GuideWel l, a US-based mutual insurance organization, was quoted saying?????

Every single board meeting?we’ve had this year has had a standing agenda item of AI and ChatGPT. We want to make sure we’ve got our board with us as we’re thinking about where we’re goin

??New?Blogpost? Is Here??? We're thrilled to announce?that our latest blogpost on?Preventing LLM Jailbreaks ?is now live!

Once you're done reading it, you'll quickly realize why?Tars ?has a proud record of setting best-in-class standards when it comes to?data propriety?and?safety.

Picking The Right LLM Strategy

Just as a well-crafted prompt can make?an LLM whip up a?top-quality response, a poorly designed one might lead to responses that are as off-key as a disastrous?first date.?

That's why you need to study this?Ultimate?Prompt Engineering flowchart?and pick the right LLM Strategy for each individual problem you're looking to solve ????

Step 1??:?Ask yourself whether the task requires?new, specific, up-to-date, or non-public information.?

If the answer is?yes, use a technique called?Retrieval Augmented Generation (RAG) ?wherein the LLM?'looks up'?the right information from?a connected data source?(e.g. website content, help-docs, user manuals, proprietary reports etc)?and then forms its response.

Step 2??:?If the answer is?no, let's move to the next fork in the road. Is the task simple and well-defined, or does it need multiple examples for clarity?

  • If it's simple, go for the "0-shot prompting": Give your LLM a single, clear prompt that spells out your desire. Imagine a straightforward customer service scenario where clarity is key

  • If it requires a bit more nuance, opt for "few-shot prompting":?Toss in a few input-output?examples?along with your prompt. Picture a hypothetical scenario where multiple examples of insurance related Q&As?paints a vivid picture of what you're after in customer service

Step 3??:?Finally, if you require specialized skills or style that the current LLM hasn't been trained for, it means taking the laborious route of?fine-tuning?an LLM model. For most tasks though - especially those in Customer Experience, this would be a giant?overkill.
