A Masterclass in Purpose-Built Solutions

The word “solution” is thrown around quite a lot in the technology sector, to the point where it’s almost lost its meaning. But in my work with Ketsen , I keep coming back to this idea of a solution. An answer to a problem.?

Because Ketsen’s fixed wireless technology was originally developed within a U.S. internet service provider, it was built to solve a problem: make 60 GHz networks work at scale, both technologically and economically. In the industry, this was a decade-long challenge that hadn’t been solved effectively.

In short, the ISP wanted to deploy fiber-grade wireless internet in new markets at a speed and scale that wasn’t possible before.?

There were two major elements of the ultimate solution that became Ketsen Networks:

1. A new, dynamic routing protocol designed to create resilient, self-healing networks and avoid bandwidth drop-offs. This, among other technology advances , is how Ketsen can deliver multi-gigabit download and upload speeds comparable to fiber.
2. A suite of planning and management tools built from the ground up to assist every role — or every step — in the network deployment process. PlanView (automated network planning), SalesView (supports sales personnel), TechView (supports install) and LinkView (network monitoring) are advanced applications that make deployment and maintenance fast, easy and cost effective.

Some of the people I have the privilege of working with now at Ketsen —?our CTO, Ahsan Naim, Ph.D. , our SVP of Engineering, Chad Dewey and our VP of Software, Bryce Barrand —?spent several years solving this challenge…and building a complete solution.

Since then, tens of thousands of Ketsen devices have been deployed to build wireless fiber networks all over the world. Now, as the Ketsen team is sharing its solution more broadly, I’m proud to help lead that effort. We’re ready to go bigger and help operators build reliable, multi-gigabit networks at scale for the first time.
