Paul Clement BSc (First) MA
Chair | CEO | Director | Urbanist | PhD researcher | Business Improvement District (BID) specialist
Following the huge success of our first Locus Masterclass which used Manchester ( CityCo & Manchester City Centre BID and Manchester BID ) and Sydney ( New Sydney Waterfront Co ) as case studies for how the BID model is evolving, we have now announced the date and time for its follow-up.
So, on Wednesday 27th September at 10.00am BST, you are invited to Masterclass #2 which visits the main hubs for BIDs in America (New York) and the UK (London), the 2 global cities with more BIDs than any other.
From East Coast USA, we will be joined by the President of the Bryant Park Corporation,? Dan Biederman ?who has been involved with some of New York’s most high-profile BIDs including Grand Central which covers 70 Blocks in the heart of Midtown, close to the famous Central Park. Bryant Park, one of the best known urban green spaces in the world, is now visited by over 12 million people a year, but the story of its reinvention through the BID model is one that you will find fascinating.

Meanwhile, from London we are thrilled to be joined by? Ros Morgan , Chief Executive of Heart of London Business Alliance which operates BIDs spanning the world-famous Leicester Square and Piccadilly Circus (epicentres of London’s cinema, theatre and entertainment industry); Piccadilly and St James’s (home to some of the world’s leading hotels, restaurants and cultural attractions); and St Martin’s (one of London’s oldest parishes, the home of renowned theatres, the inspiration for some of literature’s most recognisable places and the namesake for one of the capital’s most intriguing streets).
In this special on-line session, Dan and Ros will each be interviewed about their individual reflections on how the global BID industry is changing and how it needs to adapt to cope with today's city challenges, the role that BIDs are playing in global cities and, maybe, how London and New York compare and what can be learned from each other.
