Master your mind, Master your life.
The phrase "What you think, you become" explores the powerful impact that our thoughts have on the world around us. Put simply, it highlights how important our minds are in determining how our lives turn out. Our thoughts shape our existence by interpreting the outside environment, directing our actions, and influencing our experiences. The relationship between our beliefs and the world around us is consistent with the idea of the self-fulfilling prediction, according to which the things we believe come true. For example, proactive behaviours and achievement are frequently the result of optimistic thinking, but negative thoughts can impede progress and perpetuate a cycle of failure.
To apply this realisation to our day-to-day activities, we need to practice being attentive to our thoughts and examining them objectively. This awareness is facilitated by techniques like mindfulness and meditation, which help us better control our emotions and behaviours. We can also use this understanding to help us develop and accomplish goals. Through deliberate adoption of constructive ideas and acts that support our goals—for example, building self-esteem via affirmative action—we progressively bring our beliefs to pass.
Buddha's teachings are essentially a lighthouse, encouraging us to develop optimism and use our brains to their fullest. We may take deliberate control of our circumstances by thinking and acting with intention, which will enable us to reach our goals and realise our innate potential.
