54 degrees and Spike did the whole neighborhood. While the New Years crowd shows up at the gym in 4 days, we'll already be on our way to a 13 week goal. Meanwhile the e-mails roll in of all the people that have taken this week off automating their marketing and running their inbox down to zero. It's a feel good accomplishment and good to clear the clutter of your mind, but anything digital can be deleted or published in seconds.
Last August, a client had a failing division under a separate support agreement that we agreed to terminate and add the remaining staff and assets to their main business support. We didn't have to terminate the agreement and it saved the client over $50,000. Now a new player assigned by the client meets with me saying he's heard of this past "conversation" and wants to transition support to another firm in 30 to 60 days - even though there are no issues.
Does it seem crazy that we have an agreement through August? Apparently, there's some good old boys from back in the day with a blue one-page website that do anything from cabling to programming and everything in between - you can contact them through their PO Box. Those high risk HIPAA issues seem to be forgotten. Many customers don't make rational decisions and all you can do is help them survive the situation. The worst thing you can do is negotiate against yourself.
