Master Flo Valve saves millions of dollars in the Permian

In a recent case study, one Permian operator suffered excessive expenses due to the premature erosion of their needle and seat choke valves and the excess flaring of gas due to high pressure upsets. Master Flo Valve's solution helped them save millions of dollars by using electrically automated, erosion resistant Master Flo chokes.  

The savings started by replacing their worn and antiquated needle and seat choke valves with Master Flo's highly successful P-Series choke valve.

These valves choke down fluid pressure and redirect high velocity erosive flow inward to dissipate harmful kinetic energy. Then, this impingement chamber is surrounded with a proprietary Tungsten Carbide that is up to 7 times more erosion resistant typical commercial grades. Upon installing Master Flo chokes, erosion related maintenance costs dropped significantly. Production and well stability was also more manageable due to an equal percentage flow curve that allows for greater flow control.

The second problem was pressure upsets that resulted in excessive gas flaring which required human intervention and royalty penalties on flared volumes. By utilizing an electrically automated actuator on their Master Flo choke, coupled with a user programmed logic control system, the choke could now automatically curtail excessive gas flaring by adjusting for these pressure increases.

This resulted in an 85% reduction of flared gas volumes, higher retained production volume, less maintenance, lower human intervention, and a significant reduction in royalty penalties. 

Over the course of the 4-month trial across 20 wells, reduction in flared gases penalties and intervention expenses saved this operator approximately $958,000. That translated into several million dollars of savings for the remainder of 2019. Not to mention, this technique also prevented the release of 211,000,000 cubic feet of flared gas into the environment across 2 fields. How about them apples!
