Everyone irrespective of their gender, join cinema or entertainment and media industry to achieve name, money, fame and be the master of the game. All good, but success isn’t easy; ask any successful person, they will endorse the view.

Presenting “The 9 Month Rule†devised by Amit R Agarwal
From my 7 year (in 2014) little but rich experience in the entertainment industry, I have seen that success in entertainment industry is very simple and has a formula, well reflected in the success stories of all icons, just that only .01% people can decipher it.
What is “The 9 Month Rule
Just like a mother nurtures a baby for 9 months; similarly a creative soul (not person, because creativity is rooted in the soul) nurtures the best creative juices for the initial 9-months of any project involved in; after that boom! The ‘creative juice’ starts to diminish. You might be an actor, a director, a screenwriter, an art director, a photographer or might be associated with any creative-form, this rule holds good. Next time analyze it and correct me, if I am wrong!

A plan is very important, if you want to succeed in life, even if you want to flow with the tide!
I will explain 'The 9-Month Rule' w.r.t an actor’s perspective, since 90% of aspirants strive to be either an actor or a model; the most visible of all creative vocations!
Month 0 - 9 Every actor wants to work with A-list banners as the main lead, analyze the response in the first 9 months. There are only 9 top directors in any industry, rest all other directors are on an even keel; analyze, did you even manage to meet the top 9 producers or directors; and here I don’t mean their associates or casting directors, but the top person in self with a discussion of an hour atleast; if not, time to move on! For the point is, not just meeting but working with the top person, if your meeting wasn't an hour long, it means the director or the producer didn't find you interesting, 99.9% you won’t be able to ‘work' with that top person in your life!
Month 9 - 15 Next 6 months, analyze the film offers from the next line of yet-to-be established producers or directors. Are they paid leading roles? How long have the producers been making films consistently? What is their completion rate? Are they going to benefit you? Are they going to be one of those forever-in-the-making films? If you don't find work here, time to move.
Month 15 - 18 Next 3 months, analyze your resources, your contacts, your friends, is anyone making a festival film or a guerrilla film or a web-series; if yes, are you the lead? If not, are you getting paid? Will the producer honor the commitment to pay? How is the track record of the film-maker in terms of visibility, since most of these films aren't released commercially? Was the film visible in any of the “Top 10†film festivals – Cannes, Berlin, Toronto, Sundance, Locarno, Rome, Venice, Busan, New York, London; if yes, it's your call whether to take the lead role or not. Though there isn't a guarantee, many success stories have emerged out of the film festival circuit, with offers pouring and cast & crew finding work in international projects.
Month 18 onwards The only way is to fund or produce or co-produce - be it film, television, webseries or a short.
This is the 9+9 rule, 'The 9-Month Rule' for any creative soul that works worldwide. After this the only two options for a creative soul, is either to put their own money or to return to their homes and start life afresh. Those that don't agree with 'The 9-Month Rule', spend 18-months in the film & entertainment industry anywhere in the world, do correct me, if the rule explained here is wrong! The other rule is obviously the famous saying, 'if you are giving hits, you are the best fit in the film-industry'. Best to all of you Creative Souls out there.
