Homecoming gig will be the “lowest carbon event of its scale ever staged”
Act 1.5 will take place on 25 August on The Downs, a protected parkland right on the edge of the city. Run entirely by battery and solar power, the event will prioritise local meat-free traders, and provide electric shuttle buses, transporting fans to-and-from the train station. Residents from Bristol and surrounding areas will have priority access to tickets as a further attempt to reduce the footprint from audience travel.?
In partnership with sustainable travel charity, Train Hugger and The Forestry Commission, there are further plans to plant a new woodland in the Bristol area. This “transformative approach” stems back as far as 2021 when the trip hop collective created a sustainability guide for the music industry alongside the Tyndall Centre for Climate Change Research.
Band member Robert '3D' Del Naja said in a statement that he’s “chuffed” to play in his home city again and that there are “no excuses left” in terms of climate change. "Working with pioneering partners on this project means we can seriously move the dial for major live music events and help create precedents."
Large-scale events like this have the potential to really make a difference. So, if you work in the music industry and organise festivals, concerts and gigs, get in touch about ticketing with us. We can do some good together.
