Mass Timber Conference: TBD
Lakeridge Junior High is our first Portland, OR-area Circular Construction project, with 29 site-sourced structural tree columns.

Mass Timber Conference: TBD

We always look forward to the International Mass Timber Conference. With this week's conference being rescheduled due to COVID-19, we want to make sure you do not miss out on the exciting projects happening now.

As life is disrupted around the world, we continue working to bring beautiful, biophilic, sustainable round timber to projects from coast to coast. Please call or email us to ask questions and discuss your next project.

Planned as the first stop on Mass Timber Bus Tour #1, Lakeridge Middle School is one of the most progressive mass timber projects in the Pacific Northwest. The structural system features CLT ceilings, glulam beams, and the original mass timber: structural round timber from site-sourced trees.

MahlumSkanska, and WholeTrees combined forces with RLD Company and others to make prove that hyper-local sustainable material sourcing is possible. We used trees marked for removal to create 29 structural columns which are currently being installed. While we wait to see when the conference and tour are rescheduled, you can stay up to date with project updates and a live webcam feed.

Storytelling with Autodesk

Autodesk film crew documents the installation of the first structural columns at Lakeridge Middle School.

We are not the only ones who love the Lakeridge Middle School story. Lead by Autodesk, we are collaborating on a short film to tell this inspiring story. Autodesk's film crew interviewed the companies involved and captured the recent installation of interior columns for the school's commons area.

We could not have accomplished this feat without Autodesk products like Revit and AutoCAD. These technology tools were integral to selecting the right trees from those growing on site and marked for removal. WholeTrees was able to collect data, upload 3D models into Revit, and communicate fabrication requirements to our production partner, RLD Company. We are thrilled to tell this story with Autodesk and provide a model for using technology to transform the built environment and the job force that fabricates and delivers building products.

A busy 2019 surged into a maximum capacity Q1 2020. Whatever may come, we remain hopeful for the rest of the year. We have some awesome projects in production now and coming up this year including multiple parks, work at the San Diego Zoo, Little Rock Zoo, and Minnesota Zoo, a children's museum, and multiple cultural centers and event spaces. Though you may not see on us the road for a little while, we are always available to talk about how we can bring sustainable round timber to your next project.
