Maslow's mistake.....

Abraham Maslow born 1st April 1908.

In 1943 in a review delivering the mental hypothesis of inspiration, "Maslow also presented the idea that our wants always change: if one need is met then so we desire the need above it," - but this is where the theory is flawed.

The theory allowed an historic bias to form the first principle of physiological needs as in air, water, food, shelter, sleep, clothing and reproduction. The studies undertaken by Maslow were of subjects of his choosing who were successful white males such as Thomas Jefferson, Abraham Lincoln, Albert Einstein, William James, Aldus Huxley, Gandhi and Beethoven by his determination (only with the historical bias present);

In practicing Judaism, Maslow's core belief was - Genesis 9:5 “And surely your blood of your lives, will I require.” in that suicide is a sin and preserving human life is among the highest duties in Judaism.

What if?

"air" under Maslow is not at risk, it is an aspiration/inspiration for all - but is it?

In a simple examination of this, lets take Maslow's success group and apply a drug addict, alcoholic or gambling addict to the equation. Where do they sit in Maslow's hierarchy of needs, the hypothesis of inspiration within the individual is removed and replaced with self destruction in the pursuit of their desire without thought for air, water, food, shelter, sleep, clothing or reproduction.

This became very clear during the 2020-2023 Global pandemic where 100's of million's risked mortality and morbidity from Covid-19 in the pursuit of paying bills, the first principle of "air" was ignored.

Hypothesis of Inspiration

If the individual risks the physiological needs, then they are ignoring safety needs and so on, this is where we place an individual at self-actualisation under Maslow but introduce an addiction which drives the individuals train of thought which Maslow never applied and therefore the theory does not allow.

Maslow allowed bias to deliver a theory.....which is limited.
