The Masks They Wear

They speak of wisdom, of skies so wide,
Quoting truths, but their hearts they hide.
Big words echo in empty halls,
Hollow truths, where pretense calls.
Buddha whispered, “Be your own light,”
A reason to smile, through darkest night.
But never spoke of hearts to break,
Or paths of lies we blindly take.
Behind the masks, their shadows gleam,
A crafted facade, a broken dream.
They build their thrones on trust betrayed,
Yet wonder why the light has strayed.
To smile, not at another’s fall,
But in kindness shared, that’s Buddha’s call.
Not in masks of gold, but faces true,
Where empathy shines in all we do.
So strip away their gilded guise,
See the truth beneath their lies.
For those who betray with a cunning art,
Cannot hide the cracks of a guilty heart.
Be your own reason, your steady flame,
But let it rise without blame.
For the world needs not their hollow pride,
But the light of souls who never hide.
