Revised from a blog written in 2020 ... because it's back!
Why is this a surprise or for that matter even cause a hiccup in our daily lifestyle? The flu introduces new variants every year. So why not COVID?
As of September 10, 2023, Dr. Fauci reported a rise in COVID hospitalizations yet said nothing about related deaths or a concern thereof. He just emphasized an interesting point that those susceptible are the people who have had previous variants or have been vaccinated. So be sure to get the next booster.
This post is NOT about getting a booster. On the contrary.
I go back to my initial question ... why is this even causing a hiccup in our daily lifestyle routines?
I have the same question about the flu? Have we simply accepted the standard that this time of year is the cold, flu or more season? So just stock the pharmacies with vaccines!?
Once in the body, viruses attach to different cell receptors whether it's the common rhinovirus cold, influenza, RSV or COVID.
Given the focus on COVID over the last 3 years, it seems to be a good idea to consider the potential long-term effects of having been infected with it?
Between a previous post ‘Unmasking COVID’ and the news during the initial outbreak, we learned that the coronavirus enters the body, via the ACE2 (angiotensin converting enzyme) receptor. This is how the body produces the hormone known as angiotensin which is used to elevate blood pressure and increase respiration when the nature of the human body is threatened, mentally, emotionally and / or environmentally.
Take a moment to consider what happens when you're upset about something. You can feel a slight rise in your heart rate ...
This is a slight illustration of the way your stress response is actually a protection mechanism that does not differentiate between a maybe or certain threat. This is why it is necessary to pay attention to your thoughts AND the emotional interpretations so you can choose a different perspective.
You believe it's difficult? What is your health worth to you?
However, until you've mastered the practice of 'minding your thoughts' and include essential oils into your daily routine, mindset is not enough to protect the body from health threatening endocrine disrupters including COVID-19. Yes. I have repeatedly encouraged the value to adapting your thoughts and breath for the health of it and maintain my conviction in this practice. However, we are a culture dependent upon the use of chemicals albeit manmade, natural or both, many of which are listed as endocrine disrupters.
For clarification. an endocrine disrupter is nothing more than a lipophilic (fat soluble) chemical that acts like a hormone and influences genetic receptor activity. It's not uncommon to talk about them as bad. They’re not. It's true, they do have the potential to be toxic, yet most chemicals do, as Paracelsus pointed out centuries ago. Blaming chemicals is much like faulting guns. When it comes to functional health, a chronically stressed brain and body is far more susceptible to toxicity than a system that is allowed to cycle in and out of 'rest and digest'.
Homeostasis makes it possible for the body to effectively metabolize and eliminate potentially harmful substances without ever developing inflammation.
The same can be said for viruses.
Your body is actually capable of 'dissolving' the spike proteins found on all of the viruses mentioned so far, preventing their ability to enter the cells.
And even though your body can prevent viral infections, it's not. Why?
According to Penn State University ‘once the rhinovirus has entered into a human’s upper respiratory tract it will begin infection when it binds to an intercellular 4 adhesion receptor molecule-1(ICAM-1) . If the rhinovirus were a key, ICAM-1 would be the lock it fits into to begin the infection process. Many of these ICAM-1 receptors are located in the adenoids that lie in the back of the nasal cavity. This is the most common area for the rhinovirus to bind to in order to infect humans. Once the virus has attached itself…’
In the Journal of Virology, the understanding of Epstein Barrs is it enters via several via complement receptors on either B or epithelial cells.
A similar process takes place with the varicella zoster virus, entering the body utilizing major viral proteins (read that as spike proteins) that function as transactivators, transporting additional proteins into the nucleus before de novo protein synthesis occurs (this is the production of neutralizing antibodies).
In 2020, I suggested that viruses are a life form with an impressive, yet illusive ability to survive. I also stated that the more vulnerable a host organism, the greater the susceptibility to parasitic infection. Today, I know they are unable to survive without a host and you possess the ability to grant entrance or not.
survival of the fittest
Although we know the important steps for preventing several viruses i.e. HIV, HPV (human papilloma virus), mono, the flu etc we are not immune. Per the World Health Organization (WHO), infectious diseases are the sixth leading cause of premature death with viral infections topping the charts, globally.
Clearly, we’re not making the headway we need to live in peace with the virons of the world.
Although scientists do not consider viruses to be living organisms since they are unable to replicate without a host cell, I disagree. Their ability to survive involves DNA signaling. Call it co-dependence; maybe even parasitic. It's not personal. Viruses do the very same thing to bacteria. It’s simply one way nature continues to flourish which does not require human agreement.

Nature will take its course!
So what is the secret to preventing viral or bacterial infections? Stability and adaptability.
In an unstable environment, viruses have the upper hand and distinct ability to shield themselves from our fears. When we don’t understand something, we seek to protect through prediction.
This is the instinct of survival. Unfortunately, scientists aren't using their intellect and knowledge to help us thrive. They are .... like most humans ... stuck in survival mode a.k.a. epigenetic memory / habitual control / generational trauma. Epigenetic memories are imprints from human history, yours and that of your ancestors. It's Nature's way of 'remembering' challenging experiences and using that information to survive the next time. It's a phenomenon that happens throughout nature, including plants. This is a big topic, especially when we're talking about generational trauma ... therefore, for the sake of this post, I'll finish by pointing out that our reactions to viruses is to be expected.
There is a lot of historical 'trauma' from the pandemics / epidemics from centuries ago!
And with this understanding and scientific knowledge, we have the ability beyond vaccines to protect ourselves from viral infections! It simply takes courage and willingness to bridge the gap between conventional allopathic and alternative medicines.
For one thing, it's how we shift from habitual to cognitive control. Fighting viruses has become a human addiction.
Even though habits provide a sense of stability, they are a rigid way of going through life. Rigidity (another big topic for another day) is unstable because it does not allow for homeostasis. The greater the instability, the more vulnerable the organism because it is no longer self-regulating.
Although current news addresses the immediate concerns of a COVID infection, what about the long-term effects of being a host to this and other viruses?
Truth be told, there is a great degree of awareness around the link between viruses and autoimmune dis-eases including cancer.
As for COVID, this remains to be determined as the ACE2 receptors are located in the lungs, heart, kidneys, liver, hypothalamus, and endothelial cells of the intestinal tract and, blood vessels. This is why masks do not protect you from contracting it.
Masking faces isn't enough.
Viruses are airborne. As they travel up the nose, they enter the body. COVID crosses the blood brain barrier (BBB).
Because essential oil compounds have the ability to increase tissue permeability, it is wise to consider your choices as a means of lowering your chance of infection. At the same time, it is possible to 'mask' your receptors with oils with constituents that bind to the various receptor sites and actually support stability and homeostasis.
The following is the opening to my blog post Do You Dare to Disrupt Stress to Disrupt Disease...:
“True stability results when presumed order and presumed disorder are in balance. A truly stable system expects the unexpected, is prepared to be disrupted, waits to be transformed.” Tom Robbins (American Novelist, b. 1936)
Which ones do we use? That depends on the individual. No two oils share the same properties no matter how many websites and books are out there. The synergy within each is unique otherwise why worry about 'which one is good to use?'!
When it comes to COVID or any virus, the best approach, when not in the throes of an infection is to select essential oils based on the needs of your system. This requires professional assistance and something I can teach you how to do for yourself!
Most health clinicians are not thinking proactive or long-term. Viruses promise long-term effects. COVID is no exception. It enters the body via the hormonal receptors… and the brain, more specifically.
To protect yourself neurologically, consider oils that support neurological health. The added benefit of integrating oils into your daily routine is they provide systemic benefits that promote overall stability which lessen the chance of a viral infections when combined with mental and emotional resilience.
Therefore, essential oils with constituents that have the potential to mask genetic receptors, modify DNA signaling and support neurological health:
Please keep in mind, these are general suggestions that may not work with your specific needs and use of medications. Bio-individual wellness and safety matters as your body is doing all that it can to survive. Learning how to help you thrive is what I am here to teach.
