- Maryland has joined other states in fining online car dealer
Carvana
for allegedly failing to provide customers with their title and registration paperwork on time. According to the state, Carvana had 386 late title fee infractions totaling $17,121 in fines over the course of a year — about 10% of cars sold by Carvana in the state during that time. WMAR2
- Republican nominee for governor Dan Cox has withdrawn from a Maryland gathering called "Unite the Right" after learning the name is the same as the 2017 riot in Charlottesville, Virginia where one person died, dozens were injured and participants carried Nazi and Confederate flags and chanted hateful remarks. The Maryland event, scheduled for Oct. 22 at Mother's Peninsula Grille in Arnold, would be the first time the "Unite the Right" name has been used. The event is a fundraiser to benefit Republican candidates and was sponsored by the conservative group Red Renaissance. In various statements, organizers of the event said they were unaware of the name's connection to the 2017 riot and that the name was intended to represent the purpose of the event. Maryland Matters
- There are plans for a new sculpture to replace the former Christopher Columbus statue in Baltimore's Little Italy neighborhood that was torn down by protestors and thrown into the Inner Harbor in 2020. Instead of Columbus, the now-empty pedestal will hold the statue of an anonymous Italian immigrant and the park, currently known as Columbus Piazza, will be renamed Piazza Little Italy. WBAL-TV
- Howard County Public Library has released a new report that analyzes racial and ethnic disparities in the county and across Maryland, the most racially diverse state on the east coast, according to the 2020 Census. The findings will be used to raise awareness and address racial disparities in communities. WBAL

's annual convention and expo is now taking place at the
