"Marvelous" Marvin Hagler Dies at 66
As a young boxer with the Ionic Ave Boys Club Boxing Team in Worcester, MA, Marvin Hagler was our hero and inspiration. He was larger than life. When he fought Tony Sibson in 1983, we saved and bought tickets for "nose bleed" seats just to see him fight in person. The snow storm we endured walking home made it all the more memorable.
During breakfast this morning, I was talking to a friend and mentor about Marvin Hagler's death. He said, "When I ask people, what were the best 3 rounds in boxing history? If they don't say Hagler v Hearns, they don't know boxing". And he's from Philly ! Watch this fight and you know the true heart, toughness and perseverance of a "Champion" !!
And the finish !
