I chose this title, "Marvel Has The Daily Bugle, DC Has The Daily Planet, Now We Have Middle Ground with JLE L.L.C.!" because after months of talking about it on all 3 of my Shows, (Middle Ground with JLE, Ground Floor, The Sports Lounge with JLE & Marte') I paid for my International Press Pass! Just waiting for my Credential Kit to come in the mail. It's been an uphill struggle to get to this point. Sometimes that will happen but keep your eye on the goal & God until you accomplish the goal. I was asked recently did I ever see myself in the field of Journalism? That question led to writing this article in this manner.
First off, I appreciate everyone that has said I do a good job with the interviews, flow of my shows etc.. My only experience in Journalism goes back to my Freshman year Fall of 1992 at Thomas M. Cooley HIgh School. Being blessed with intelligence is cool but, not cool given my first semester most of my classes were Honor Classes. This included Honors English, I can't remember the Teacher name but She was in charge of the School Paper "The Cardinal". She had given us an essay assignment to write. Now, by this time I had written at least a few songs since the second semester of 8th grade and over the summer "92". I started to notice I had some skill with writing. I wrote my essay turned it in and thought nothing of it. The next day in class she wanted to speak to me after class.
Class ends and she start telling me how I had talent as a writer and would I consider writing for the school paper. Thinking to myself I'm saying "the essay wasn't that good or was it?" I became curious and said yes. She walked me down to the room where They meet and told me I would come here instead of the English class and The school paper would take the place for my English class. I said ok even though I was nervous (I was not the type to like new environments at first). I was the only Freshman working for the school paper. On my journey I have to be Transparent, so I was a little intimidated until I saw a familiar face Shante. She went to Guest Middle School and graduated with my cousin the year prior. Now she was cute and Thick and proceeded to greet me saying "Hi what's your name?" Jeff. She then said I looked familiar and I told her I went to Guest and my cousin name and she remembered me walking with him a lot in the halls so I was good. Prettiest young lady on the paper spoke to your boy lIfe was good now! LOL. Class started and we were given our first assignment, write an article about something that means a lot to you.
I decided to write about Friendship and What a Real Friend is. We turned our articles in by end of week and I asked when the paper comes out? She said by Tuesday. Ok I will see what happens. Tuesday comes around and by third hour I came across my big sister who was a Senior that school year. She said great article. I asked how do you know forgetting my Teacher said the paper would be available Tuesday. Everywhere I walked I saw people reading the school paper. I didn't think students actually read the school paper. So for at least 2 days I was popular because of my article. Even my sister Friends who I will affectionately call "Goons" liked it. I call them that because my sister gave all her classmates their marching orders to look out for me. I love my sister and appreciate her for doing it. Sadly, they understood the assignment TOO WELL! If I was in the hallway I see a pretty young lady and I'm trying to do me I would hear "Little Tracey" get to class now! I'm looking at them like Bro don't you see me with the young lady and you gonna call me "Little Tracey". And you know what? They didn't care as they started saying we're going to tell your sister. I hope that made you laugh. So I picked my pride up off the floor and went to class counting down til her graduation. and Sweet Freedom to do me. LOL.

We would continue the semester writing going to events. My next Big Article would be a collaboration with a Senior I can not remember his name either. We had to go to the Palace of Auburn Hills and interview Detroit Pistons Captain, Legend, Hall of Famer, & later Coach Isiah Thomas. The interview with the press was on the news a few people saw me. As I was waiting for my ride to pick me up Isiah Thomas came outside spoke to me, shook my hand and said I asked a good question. I thanked him and was a fan for a minute saying, "you're one of the "Bad Boys"". He started to laugh told me have a great day and walked off.
I could never imagine that one semester of Journalism and writing for Cooley's School Paper "The Cardinal" would give me the knowledge and writing skills I would use later to build an Billion Dollar Radio and Broadcasting MultiMedia Company out the mud and with God. Now with my Press Pass on the way, I'm going to let the world know about Middle Ground with JLE! Marvel has The Daily Bugle & Peter Parker/Spiderman, DC has the Daily Planet & Clark Kent/Superman, Now we have Middle Ground with JLE L.L.C. & Jeffrey L. Edwards/JLE.
