Marty Cagan, My Mother, & Many of YOU – TODAY is Launch Day! Yippee!

Today is launch day for my new book –?Never Search Alone: The Job Seeker’s Playbook!

This month also?happens to be the 10-year anniversary of my mother's death ("Chic" to her friends and family).?

I can't think of a more fitting way to mourn this sad moment than by publishing this book and dedicating it to Chic.?

After all, she started the first council back in 1960 (for elementary school teachers), and when I was growing up she taught me the power of asking for help (pounded it into me, especially when I was younger and didn't want to listen!).

Mom, I've dedicated this book – and my life?– to you and to continuing your mission. I miss you and love you.

I also must thank Marty Cagan , who has been a friend for many, many years, and wrote a wonderful?Foreword.

Marty encouraged me each and every step along the way.?

He, along with *thousands* of you, made sure I?never?wrote alone.

To that last point, I want to thank most of you.

1. Working with thousands of you –?I have worked and learned from thousands of you over the last two decades (we are celebrating the 20th anniversary of the founding of the councils this year!).?
2. 250 interviews before I started writing. In 2016, I began the process of conducting 1:1 interviews with 250+ of you – Randy Garutti , the CEO of Shake Shack, Karen Goracke , the CEO of one of Warren Buffett's companies, Kenneth I. Chenault , then Chairman and CEO of American Express (now Chairman and Managing Director at General Catalyst and Board Member at Berkshire Hathaway and other companies), Paula Kerger , the longtime President and CEO of PBS, Mara Castro , the first employee at Warby Parker, Michelle Peluso , the Chief Customer Officer of CVS Health and Co-President of CVS Pharmacy, many, many other Collaborative Gain members and alums, and college students like Maslyn P. You know who you all are. Thank YOU.
3. ?250?early readers. Then, as I started writing six years ago, more than 250 of you read early drafts of the book, used it for your own promotions and/or job searches, and gave me more than 2,500 comments that drove *400* major and minor drafts.?

In other words, I ate the dog food from my first book, Customers Included, and tested this book heavily with customers/readers/job seekers.
