The recent Netflix drama Adolescence and Gareth Southgate’s powerful speech on masculinity and misogyny have sparked much-needed discussions about the troubling rise of incel culture and the toxic “manosphere†influencing young men online. Many boys today are struggling to find their identity, turning to influencers who peddle warped versions of masculinity—rooted in bitterness, entitlement, and misplaced aggression.
As the Head Coach of Tiger Fight Academy, I see firsthand how Muay Thai and martial arts can be a game-changer in a young man’s life. We are raising a generation where too many boys lack discipline, confidence, and strong male role models who teach resilience and respect. If we truly want to steer them away from toxic ideologies, we need to offer them something better.
Discipline Over Delusion
The manosphere thrives on victimhood, convincing young men that the world is against them. In contrast, Muay Thai instills a warrior’s mindset—where success is earned through sweat, hard work, and perseverance. There are no shortcuts in the gym; you learn that growth comes from pushing through discomfort, not blaming others.
Confidence Through Competence
Boys fall into toxic online spaces because they feel powerless. The manosphere offers them a false sense of strength by tearing others down, but martial arts build true confidence. When a boy learns to throw a proper strike, defend himself, and push past his limits, he gains real self-worth—without needing to adopt an aggressive or misogynistic attitude.
Respect and Brotherhood
One of the core principles of Muay Thai is respect—for your coaches, your training partners, and yourself. Unlike the online echo chambers that teach young men to resent women and authority figures, martial arts cultivate discipline and humility. Fighters bow to their opponents, listen to their instructors, and train in an environment where respect is non-negotiable.

A Healthy Outlet for Frustration
Many young men are drawn to toxic ideologies because they feel frustrated and unheard. Instead of venting anger online, martial arts provide a structured way to channel aggression into something positive. When you hit pads, spar, and push yourself to the limit, you release pent-up frustration in a way that builds you up, rather than turning it into bitterness.
From Boys to Warriors: A Call to Action
The internet is shaping the minds of our boys at an alarming rate, and parents, educators, and communities need to take action. If we want young men to grow into strong, confident, and respectful individuals, we must give them real-world experiences that shape them for the better.
At Tiger Fight Academy in St Albans, we train boys of all levels, helping them develop discipline, resilience, and a warrior’s mindset—without the toxic baggage. If you're a parent worried about the influences your son is exposed to online, this is your chance to guide him toward real strength.

1 周This is a fantastic initiative Syed. We were luck growing up before the age of social media and the internet. Their seemed to be more discipline then too, because we did not have the distractions we got involved in sport and youth clubs and it was easier to understand our society contributing roles were. I think role models found it easier to stand out too. It wasn't perfect by any means. Now it is so easy the younger generations to be guided by the wrong role models and influencers thanks to social media, the internet and AI. Sport remains a great way of learning, setting and achieving goals and the discipline required and that naturally becomes something you follow in every day life. I wish you every success with this venture.
