MarTech Basics - Part 2

Welcome back to my 3-part article on MarTech Basics... if you missed part 1 - we explored what MarTech is and how to break down the confusion (I have included the link so you can go back and take a look). Today is Part 2, and this is for all of you SMEs out there - I am going to focus the MarTech discussion to our Small, Medium Enterprises and our Start Ups.

With our SMEs and Start-ups, it’s important to help them grow as quickly as possible - within reason! This means that they need to ACQUIRE and RETAIN customers - with not a lot of capital... so at low cost.

Having been a business owner in the past, it can be super tempting to get excited about the technology and software options in front of you, but there are some really great ways to kick off your MarTech without going overboard.

Depending on how much of a start you are and how much capital you have to invest in technology will really determine how you go about getting started in your MarTech. But on the whole, take a look at my 5 steps for SMEs to Kick Start their MarTech;

As you can see, it's not about having the ability to buy the best systems in the market - it's about identifying the systems that will help you immediately with engaging with your customers so you can grow... then looking at how the more advanced tools and systems can enhance your strategies, and as you need to focus on acquisition - my guidance would be looking at DMPs and Tag Management as your next steps - but only when you are ready!

If you liked Part 2 of my 3-Part MarTech Basics, stop by tomorrow where I will share Part 3 - the 3 Ground Rules for Large Enterprises Before You Spend Anymore on Technology!

If you can't wait until tomorrow - check out some MarTech Fun with at the MarTech MythBusters Channel!

I have been super encouraged by all of the love from Part 1 - so thank you! I was really nervous about writing articles and sharing my thoughts, and all of the feedback has really helped. So if you liked Part 2 - LIKE the article, FOLLOW me and SHARE the love!

P.S... If someone said they had a dream the night before about CDPs and DMPs, would you call them a "nerd"? #askingforafriend
