Marquardt Switches
As a long time employee – over 28 years with Marquardt – I have witnessed a lot of change. Growth, transformation, opportunity. Both good times and bad.
As the news has spread about the changes at Marquardt – it is true that many people will no longer be needed at the Cazenovia factory and will lose their jobs. Please see the most accurate news report here.
I am sad for the people who will no longer be needed – and feel that it is important to share this point of view. Through all of the changes and difficult decisions, Marquardt has been not only very compassionate, but very open in communicating to all employees what is happening. Everyone has been given a clear explanation, and what to expect next. All employees have been provided with a generous amount of time to prepare - even in the event of a job loss.

Marquardt has made this decision as a company that must make a sacrifice to stay alive and competitive in a very challenging market place. This decision is not about “corporate greed†or increased profit. This is about the long term survival of a global, family owned business.
In three decades I have witnessed Marquardt transition from a small “Mom and Pop†switch manufacturer – to a growing and highly technical power tool supplier – and then to an even higher tech highly automated automotive supplier. All phases of this evolution created opportunity, challenges, and risk – along with the good times.
At this time Marquardt is taking bold steps to maintain its future – and will continue to manufacture high tech equipment in Cazenovia as MARQ4 Automation.
I wish everyone involved in this story the very best moving forward – and thank Marquardt Switches for the decades of opportunity, income, and for being treated with respect - like family.

12 个月Well said and thank you for sharing your thoughts and experiences. I will say that Marquardt has handled the situation very well. My last employer also moved production to Mexico but did not handle it nearly as well. When my last day comes there will be no resentment, only remorse that geo-political and economic conditions has led to this. I will miss the people, culture and of course the fancy coffee machine!
