Markets of tomorrow
With the annual WEF Forum in Davos this week, seems fitting that our lead story should be the study released by WEF on the?technologies of tomorrow. The research finds that agritech, edtech and energy-related technologies are seen by businesses as the most strategically important over the next 10 years in over 120 economies worldwide.
Another report that was released late last week was the numbers of the?UK – MENA cross border trade?from from Lumina Capital Advisers. The report showed that cross-border trade and deal activity between the two regions surged in 2022, driven by two-way capital flows as multinationals and funds sought access and investments in the region. 2023 is predicted to mark another record for cross-border transactions between the two in light of a resilient regional-led global M&A environment and strong activity in traditional industries like manufacturing, oil & gas services and industrials.
WEF also released a special report on green buildings and the pledge of global real estate CEOs to reduce emissions in the sector by 50 percent by 2030. Majid Al Futtaim was one of these.?Majid Al Futtaim Properties has pledged?to halve their buildings-related emissions by 2030 and reach net-zero building emissions by 2050 along with Avison Young, Edge, GPFI Group, Ivanhoé Cambridge, JLL, Schneider Electric and Signify. These firms will meet these targets by implementing the World Economic Forum’s Green Buildings Principles. Released last year, the Green Building Principles provides a clear sequence of steps to deliver net-zero carbon real estate portfolios.
