As someone who is working towards a career in marketing, it's easy for me to feel overwhelmed by the competition in the industry. However, it's important to remember that by embracing my unique selling point (USP), I am able to set myself apart from others and make a name for myself in the industry. Firstly, the fact that it is a "crowded" industry does not make up for the fact that there can only ever be one ME. No one can do me better than I do me. Same goes for you. Only you can do you like you do! Tongue twister right there, LOL.
Personally, I avoided embracing the fact that I absolutely enjoy marketing and I am quite good at it because my fear or reservation was that it is a crowded industry. However, I quickly realized that I was wrong. I enjoy market research, consumer insights and retail intelligence. That's the side of marketing I absolutely love and would one day hope to work and flourish in. By identifying my passions and interests within the marketing industry, I have started to craft a personal brand that highlights what sets me apart from others in the industry.
The fact that I am not yet working in marketing should not stop me from leveraging my USP. In fact, it's a great opportunity to start building my personal brand and identifying what makes me unique in the industry. By highlighting my skills, experience, and personality, I can demonstrate to potential employers why I'm the right person for a marketing role that aligns with my interests.
The marketing industry is constantly evolving, and there is always room for new and innovative ideas. By embracing my passion for market research, consumer insights and retail intelligence, I can make an impact in the industry and stand out among the competition. The moment I stopped avoiding my passion and started to embrace it, the sooner I felt more aligned with my career goals.
