Attention Small and Medium sized businesses in Southern California
This specific topic concerns businesses in Southern California who are using various ways to market their companies.
I have been using all sorts of digital marketing in Southern California because I like targeted areas like my own so I can properly track the results. I LOVE marketing and challenges but don't like giving the farm away if I don't have to.
Here are some marketing efforts I have done and will NEVER do again.
1) Pay for Telemarketing - These days, if they put "Skin into the game", it's fair, if not, walk away because your wallet is about to get much thinner. Most of them are overseas and put a bunch of people in a room to "Dial for dollars", remember to send them a W8 and take 30% of the taxes out or you'll be paying them - Lesson Learned.
2) Your favorite search engine marketing - Not worth it, put your money into an Annuity instead, this way, you will at least make something back - Reference Point - Click here
T?o really make this work, ... You need to "Geo Target" your area, not the State of California, or the globe, - the "Keyword" (Pun intended), is Geo Targeting", this leans that if you are in City XYZ, you "Geo Target" 15 to 20 miles around you so that your ads are effective, just be aware that your competitors can click on your ads and drain your account - Just Saying.
3) Buying leads - Never, ever buy leads, the reality is, they are "Shared", Joe sells to Sally Sally brokers the lead to Bill and Bill sells to Bubba ... Bubba, sell to you for $60-$100 and at the end of the day - You get "HOSED" - Lesson Learned.
4) Flyers in neighborhoods - The paper that they are printed on are much better than the results by far - Lesson learned.
5) Radio - Don't think about it unless you have about $250k minimum to spend.
6) Canvassing - If you don't have any skin in the game, then it can be a great opportunity, pay them well and convert them into sales reps, if you are paying little Billy to walk around, text, chat, YouYube for 6 - 8 hours a day X 10 little Billy's, it's going to be costly. I have canvassed myself to see what it's all about - Hard Work and its about 14,135 steps per day which equates to 6.7 miles.
7) Social Media Marketing - Don't do it, expensive - You have been warned.
8) Mailers - Really? ... Nope, less than .005% return, the only person who gets paid is the printing company and the post office.
9) Newspaper advertising - Another waste of money, take that money and put it back in your Annuity.
10) Online FREE Marketing - Remember, nothing is FREE and you will be eventually slammed into a financial blur, not worth it.

WHAT WORKS FOR ME? - Old Fashioned face to face, direct marketing, one on one is the BEST by far.
So, don't get SUCKED into that BOTTOMLESS PIT unless you just won the lottery or ... You make that marketing company put "Skin into the Game".
No Tickie - No Washie ... Just Saying
