Marketing Tips for Your Cleaning Business.
Before you decide to start paying for leads make sure you have an up and running website as you want to drive traffic to your website via your advertising.
Your website is your shop front and needs to be of good quality, reflects your brand and without using “Stock” photo’s where possible. The benefit of using your own pictures of you and your team is that customers will identify with you when visiting, this builds familiarity and more importantly……Trust!
I’m no marketing Guru but I will pass on tips which worked and didn’t work for me in my cleaning business, hopefully this will save you time, money and gain more leads…… ?
Generic Flyers & Leaflets – Not for Me
This is the most common form of marketing when people start their cleaning business, keen and eager I spent my money at the local printers then hit the streets delivering leaflets door to door. Did it work for me, the simple answer is NO! For me I soon realised this was a hit and hope approach. Ask yourself this, How long would it take you to deliver 1200 leaflets door to door? It takes seconds to send an email to the same 1200 customers which is personalized to them……..which would you rather do and what is more effective?
Google Adwords – Yes from Me
Google Ads worked well for me, I used it in conjunction with my diary. I set up Ad campaigns for different services and would only turn them on If and when I had a gap in my diary. I would use them to promote a particular service appropriate for the time of year. Just remember to set a budget, timescale and a radius from your work place. I’ve seen cleaning companies advertise in Northampton who were based in Scotland!

Paid Social Media Ads – Not for Me
They have their place, however I found platforms like Facebook constantly changed their guidelines and process, therefore I was spending far too much time working out how to set up the ad etc. Plus I found I wasn’t reaching MY target market or MY Ideal Customer, the enquiries I received weren’t of good quality. If you’re going to try social media ads I would suggest subcontracting this out to someone who knows what they’re doing……….
Bespoke Marketing – A MUST!
I soon developed a series of bespoke marketing cards, leaflets, flyers and emails which worked together but had a specific message to a different target market. I developed a strategy and process from the initial enquiry through sending the invoice and beyond to ensure I could up sell my services and gain repeat business. This was not only to the customer but the surrounding neighbours!
If you’re going to ask me what it was, I’m not going to tell you……Not Yet! What I will tell you is that ?people buy from people, if customers like and trust you they will buy from you! So Tap into that with your marketing and you will gain a good client base with lots of repeat business!!!
Good Luck! ???
