Google and Reddit Forge Strategic Partnership for Enhanced Search Experience
Google has made a strategic move by partnering with Reddit to bolster its Search business, gaining exclusive access to Reddit's data for Search and generative AI projects. This deal, worth $60 million annually, provides Google with valuable content from Reddit to enhance search results, especially for product reviews and human insights, as users increasingly turn to Reddit for authentic experiences.
This collaboration benefits both Google and Reddit, as it improves search quality with real-time, structured content from Reddit's diverse platform and increases awareness of Reddit's forums across various topics. Reddit's transformation in 2020, which saw the platform overhaul its rules and remove controversial communities, has paved the way for partnerships like this, aligning with its business growth and IPO aspirations.
