A Marketing Plan Developed During an Uber Ride!
When you call Uber for a ride, you never know what to expect. I hopped in the car and immediately engaged in conversation with Michael, my driver. Very quickly he let me know that he was a retiree who had gotten bored and was interested in starting his own business. With the launch of Marketing Solver, I was excited to test it out.
Michael had invented a product and he was hoping to commercialize it. We chatted about the size of customers that he needed in order to make this a go. They were large, multi-nationals that would need to have reliable suppliers and partners with rigorous business processes in place. Based on this, we agreed that the most important goal of his marketing would be demonstrating credibility. This was the only way that the larger organizations would trust him enough to give him an order (as people only buy from people they trust).
We completed the Marketing Solver quiz with "credibility" and "low budget" as the key criteria. Who doesn't want to start with the "low budget" marketing tools first?! I never understand why people just try any marketing tool, when they should be focused on what the marketing tools need to do for them and choose accordingly.
He was floored. In the 15 minute drive, we identified over 50 marketing tools that would actually accomplish what he needed done. We chatted the rest of the way about which ones he should start with (always good to simply choose 3-5 tools and get them off the ground to start - then see if they work).
He had hired a marketing consultant for $7000 that had given him less information than Marketing Solver gave in less than 15 minutes. He was happy and signed up for Small Business Solver that evening after his shift.
Exploring Opportunities
5 年Hi Carla, how are you doing? It’s Valerie Dean. I worked with you and Rakesh when you were the The Nines Company. I hope things are going well for both of you.
