MARKETING MISTAKES YOU SHOULD AVOID

While a lot of business owners incorporate social media marketing efforts almost successfully, there are some rookie social media marketing mistakes they often commit - marketing mistakes that are easily avoidable!

Below, we give you 10 rookie mistakes in social media marketing:

1. Not Having A Social Media Strategy

You should always know why you are posting something and which goals you want to attain with it. If there’s no strategy you can easily make the following mistake:

  • It might lead to losing out to the competitors
  • You may confront the issue in gaining and retaining customers
  • You might be missing out on opportunities for better targeting and optimization
  • Lack of planning often leads to bad execution and competitors may take advantage of this.

Remember, knowledge is power, and until you have enough awareness about the importance of having a proper marketing strategy, you will always fail at coming up with an effective plan for your business.

2. Relying Too Much On Automation

One of the most common mistakes in social media marketing that companies make is relying too much on automation - automatic posting to their social media accounts. People utilize social media because they want to interact with other people and not with those robotic messages.?

Be mindful so as not to estrange your audience by posting content automatically and rather consider approaches to amuse, engage and inspire by posting content that is customized and authentic

3. Copy-Paste On All Social Networks

Each social network has its limitations, unique users, strategies, do’s and don’t. Facebook is mostly for sharing moments with friends, LinkedIn for professionals and on Pinterest, you reach mainly women. Also, posts on Twitter, for example, are limited to 140 characters. Don’t copy-paste the same posts. Each channel should have its own strategy and its adapted posts.

4. One-Way Traffic

Imagine only you or the other one speaking during a conversation. The purpose of social media should be two-way communication. Make sure you keep the conversation going and listen well to your customers.

5. Ignore Comments From Your Fans

Many companies focus primarily on their own posts and forget to respond to comments from fans. Social media are the perfect way to enter into dialogue with prospects and customers. If you keep ignoring reactions and complaints, it will be missed opportunities for your business.

6. Too Much Yelling/Advertising On Social Media

Simply shouting louder on these platforms is not necessarily going to help you grab attention and drive engagement on your posts. Yelling on social media is going to leave your friends and followers annoyed, and they could eventually stop following you. Instead, be consistent and persistent with strong content. Keep producing high-quality content – people will finally notice it.

7. Sharing too much

Sharing others’ messages and articles is important. But only sharing other people’s content and posting less content on your own, may send the message to the fans that your brand doesn’t add a lot of value.

8. Lack of call to actions

Of course, you would like your visitors to do something besides just read your posts and leave. You would like them to subscribe to a newsletter, download something, share something, view a demo, request for information, visit your site, take advantage of an offer. Without a call to action, you are missing out on these opportunities.

What you should do

  1. Create an effective social media strategy
  2. Know how to choose a primary social media channel to start
  3. Have a plan for messages on this channel

Conversions, revenue, business, and profit — they all rely upon the CTAs. Thus, it has become necessary to craft effective CTAs to draw visitors’ attention, pique their interest and directly impact your conversion rates.

9. Not tracking the social media analytics

There is a significant amount of information hiding behind all your social media activities. And not measuring that information is a big and common marketing mistake that could keep you away from gaining success on social media.

10. Not having a social media team

For instance, rather than attempting to spread yourself crosswise over all the social media platforms – and not performing admirably at all of them – take a stab at concentrating on only a couple of them. If you have a marketing team, they can divide the work and take care of marketing on multiple platforms and could further boost the engagement on your social media posts.

Wrapping Up!

It is crucial for you to address all the social media marketing mistakes at the earliest to be more effective because these mistakes hold you back. Keep in mind that customers are in control now, so make proper adjustments to provide them with adequate chances to settle on choices and enjoy the benefits!
