I wanted to take some time to talk about the Digital Marketing Sector Council’s recent initiative: The Raising Voices Project. Through a collaborative effort, the Digital Marketing Sector Council (DMSC), NPower Canada, and Jelly Academy have joined forces in the Raising Voices Project with the goal of fostering inclusivity and creating opportunities for underserved communities.?

Building Bridges for Indigenous Talent

At the heart of Raising Voices is a mission to bridge the gap for Indigenous talent in the digital marketing landscape. The aim is to empower individuals with the skills and experiences necessary to embark on meaningful careers in one of Canada's most dynamic industries. The project focuses on providing a pathway that not only equips participants with essential micro-credentials but also ensures they gain valuable paid work experience with some of Canada's leading employers!

Upskilling for Success

Education partners, Jelly Academy and NPower Canada, are pivotal in rapidly upskilling 20 Indigenous job seekers. Jelly Academy will take the lead in providing participants with a transformative learning experience, helping them walk away with 11 industry-recognized micro-credentials in digital marketing. These micro-credentials are carefully curated to align with the current demands and trends in the industry, ensuring that participants are well-prepared for the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead.

Comprehensive Support for Lasting Impact

Our friends at NPower Canada, including Nisha Lewis , Julia Blackburn and Molly Hill , are offering additional professional development and wraparound support to participants. This holistic approach goes beyond just education, encompassing recruitment, intake, and job placement support. By providing a nurturing environment and a strong support system, this project aims to empower participants not just with skills, but also with the confidence and resilience needed to thrive in their digital marketing careers.

Influence Mentoring?

Another phenomenal organization creating meaningful change I wanted to share with you is called Influence Mentoring.

Influence Mentoring, led by Colby Delorme, ICD.D , is a collaborative organization committed to empowering Indigenous post-secondary students and raising awareness among mentors about Indigenous issues. Guided by the Truth and Reconciliation Commission (TRC) of Canada's Calls to Action, Influence aims to bridge educational and employment gaps between Indigenous and non-Indigenous Canadians.

The organization emphasizes the crucial Elder-protégé relationship, valuing the transference of Indigenous knowledge through mentoring. Their innovative program promotes a two-way mentoring model, fostering stronger relationships and improving cross-cultural understanding.
