I want to share some of the reasons that you need more than one approach to market your brand. You have to think Long term, whichever routes to get to your target you choose.
Especially, as Social Media platforms continuesly changes the input parameters, as well as the algoritms they use to get your content in front of yout audience, you need to think Long Term about your goals, your interim KPI's and the ressources you allocate (and how you distribute those allocations).
When you engage in martial arts, you typically begin learning techniques and you practice against one opponent at the time. As time goes on, you learn to combine different techniques and over time you also increase no. of opponents.
(Last time I graduated, I had to fight 3 persons at the same time. It was not easy, trust me. I do have a video to show for it however).
So, if you attack with a punch, but misses, you instantly switch to say a kick, or a throw. The key is not to stop, not loose momentum.
Likewise, when you build your brand, engage with potential customers on Social media, you need to be versatile, nimble, repetetive and focused. Don't assume your first "punch" gets you the win, most likely it does not.
It happens, as a former sales, I can tell you that, after the initial contact, you can sometimes tell if this is a dead end or to quote Captain Louis Renault in Casablance - it is the beginning of a wonderful friendship. But in Marketing, which is one level or two removed from sales, this is not possible.
It takes a multiple no. of contacts for the relation to build between brand-builder and potential customer, make certain your arsenal of techniques are up to scratch. You need more than one route to the target. You need to go at it from different angles, using both old, and new approaches. It helps also to have different agents to help you as being endorsed by others can help get the attention. (This is I suppose the core of Influencer marketing).
You also need to be carefull when designing your KPI's for the individual campaign, as well as for your full year marketing plan. You do need to monitor it, and if you use outsourced agents, to get the reward mechanism set up appropriately.
