The marketing insights you need to know!

The marketing insights you need to know!

Happy Wednesday everyone, I hope you’ve had a lovely week so far!

I hope you’ve been having a good start to the year, I actually find this time really motivating and have stuck to my goals so far ( hoping that continues ????)

Today we’re talking about an iconic fitness campaign, keeping up with the marketing world and getting to know your audience!

Let’s get started!!??

Today I want to talk about Planet Fitness ’ new year campaign!! ??

2023 was their 9th consecutive year as the presenting sponsor of the Times Square New Years Eve.

To mark the occasion they collaborated with Megan Thee Stallion ???aka Mother Fitness

The focus is on making exercising a judgment free zone. There’s no toxic trainers, scammers or fitness fakes ?

I’m loving the authenticity and the initiative to call out issues that put people off of fitness ??

What do you think? Let me know in the comments!

I’m excited to welcome today’s guest, meet Tejal Jain ! She is sharing her insights on getting into marketing??

“Hi there!

I’m a marketing graduate with a fair bit of marketing & communications work experience gained during my time as a university student. If you’re just dipping your toes in the marketing world, these are three insights I would like to share with you:

??? Personal branding is key!

I used to think of LinkedIn as the platform where you just post the occasional career win, but it couldn’t be further from the truth, particularly for those interested in marketing.

Showing up on the platform serves as a digital portfolio where you can showcase the diversity of your work and market your skills independently of your current (or future) job title. It’s also incredibly helpful to have a community of other marketers as you can learn from experienced professionals, navigate the beginning stages with peers, and feel understood in the work that you do as a marketer.

???♀? Be a sleuth- explore and learn

With marketing being such a rapidly evolving field, it’s easy to feel overwhelmed with all the knowledge and feel clueless even if you have done your education in the field (guilty). It’s important to remember that you can’t possibly be the best at every platform or stay on top of every new marketing trend and that’s OKAY.

That said, make sure to actively seek opportunities that allow you to learn, gain new skills and stay informed. Often, it helps to do some digging as useful resources aren’t always widely known.

Sign up for email/ LinkedIn newsletters (hint, hint...?diary of a young marketer???), look up free online courses in areas of marketing that interest you (or boot camps like the ones funded by the UK Government), google new terms that you come across, and most importantly observe marketing around you. Whether it’s a promotional email that gets your attention, creative packaging that makes you giggle, or a social media account that you unfollow because the content doesn’t resonate with you- reflect on what you see, think about what kind of marketing it is and why it works/ doesn’t work.

?? Get those damn numbers down!

One advice you’ll often hear when building your CV is to back up your experiences with statistics. Regardless of whether it’s internships, part-time work, volunteering or academics; don’t forget to keep track of the measurable metrics. This could be things such as high grades, engagement on social media posts, hours spent volunteering, the number of people you presented in front of, etc. Even if it doesn’t seem like a significant achievement, it helps to have different statistics as it demonstrates the impact of your work better than generic statements.

That’s all from me for now. If you fancy hearing me rant more about finding my way in marketing, or just want to make friends with a fellow marketing newbie, follow me and send me a message with any questions or simply a hello ??”

I love this advice and definitely agree with the points given. There are so many ways to learn and grow your skills, it’s just about finding the resources you enjoy the most??

Today’s advice is to read ten pages of a book of your choice ??

I’ve seen a lot about about the 75 hard or 75 soft challenges and whilst I’m not committing to that right now I love the idea of making small changes that over time become new habits.

So today take a little bit of time to read and take a break from the screens ??

Today my post prompt is to host a little Q&A??

This gives your audience an opportunity to ask any burning questions that they may have and start some conversations .If you’re just starting out and you have a smaller audience perhaps just share some fun facts about yourself and reach out to new connections in the dms.

I look forward to seeing yours, please use #DiaryOfAYoungMarketer so I can come and show your post some support.

Have a lovely rest of the day??

Speak soon!
