Marketing: Half Science, Half Art

If my hypothesis is true where does that leave us, aspirant marketers?

Here's what I think:

 Marketing as Science

There are basic principles that apply to marketing and if we use them we enhance our marketing enormously.

 Among these are:

·        Marketing from your prospect's point of view

·        Differentiating our products and services from our competitors

·        Clarifying our message

·        Knowing who our ideal prospect is

·        Not asking for too much too soon

·        Delighting our customers

·        Keeping in touch

·        Having a process for your marketing

However if marketing was an exact science we would do all of these things and the business would be rolling in,

But marketing is not that simple

 Marketing as Art

We need to have some space in our marketing strategy for some variations.

Some of marketing which is more art than science are:

·        Using the right words at the right time

·        Telling stories

·        Connecting with the prospect

·        Getting the right emotional tone

·        Customer personal relationships

·        How do we get more business from existing customers

We need to blend Art and Science in our marketing activity.

We don't know it all but we try very hard to increase your and our marketing knowledge all the time.

What do you think?

Please feel free to pass this one to anyone you may get value from this,

Regards
