Marketing in Facebook (Part 2) - Creating and managing Facebook Business Manager

Marketing in Facebook (Part 2) - Creating and managing Facebook Business Manager

So here goes the part two of the series to shed some more light into marketing in Facebook. In this part I will try and write about the business manager tool of Facebook that helps organize and manage your business. For the ones who missed the 1st part about setting up your FB page below is the link.

First, we need to understand the use of Facebook business manager. As per Facebook - business manager serves as a one-stop shop to manage business tools, business assets and employee access to these assets. So basically business manager is the one stop solution to manage all marketing and advertising activities for your business. The benefits of setting up business manager is that it keeps your personal profile and business totally separate. So, you won't have to worry about posting random stuff as you page or the co-workers would not be able to get any information from your personal profile. It also works a centralized place to manage all your ads in Facebook. You can also give vendors, partners, and agencies access to your pages and ads, without handing over ownership of the assets.

Now, the first step would be to create a business manager with which the link below will help. It is pretty simple, go to business.facebook.com and click on the create account button. Enter your business name, your name and the business email address that will be used to manage your business manager. Now enter your business details and go check your email to confirm your business email. You have just created your own business manager account.

The next step is to add your Facebook business pages. You can add your existing page, create a new one or you can request access to someone else's page. For this article, I will assume you have your own page and it is already created. From the business manager dashboard you will click add page and in the pop up click add page again. Type in the name of your page and as it appears below the search bar, click on it. Assuming you have admin access to your page, the page will be added instantly.

Its time to add your ad account next. Note that once you add your ad account to Facebook Business Manager, you can’t remove it, so it’s very important only to add accounts you own. To access a client account, click Request Access instead. Assuming you have an ad account you just need to go to your business manager dashboard and click add ad account and enter the ad account id. In case you don't have an ad account click on create ad account instead. Fill in all the details and select that you are creating it for your own business. Each business can create one ad account right away. To open more ad accounts, you will need to spend enough in your first ad account.

You can add your team members to help you with your page and ads. From your business manager dashboard click add people. In the pop-up box enter the business email address of a team member you want to add. You can provide either admin or employee access to them. In the left menu, click on Pages. Choose which pages you want this team member to work on. Customize the individual’s access using the toggle switches. Do the same for the ad accounts. In the left menu, you’ll also see options to add people to catalogs and apps, but you can skip these for now. You can add more people the same way. You can also remove access from the people option in the left menu.

If you have agencies to help you with Facebook marketing you can add them to your business manager to give them needed access. From your Business Manager dashboard, click Business Settings at the top right. In the left click partners and add your partner's business manager id. Now the business you added can manage permissions for the individuals on their own teams from their own Facebook Business Manager account.

You can also add your instagram account to Facebook business manager as well. Go to business settings and click Instagram Accounts, then click Add. In the pop-up box, enter your Instagram login information and click log in.

Facebook pixel is a small bit of code generated by Facebook which you place in your website to get access to information about tracking conversions, optimizing Facebook ads, building targeted audiences for your ads, and re-marketing to leads. Again go to business settings, expand the data sources menu and click pixels, then click add. Enter a name (up to 50 characters) for your pixel. Enter your website so Facebook can provide the best recommendations for how to set up your pixel, then click continue. Click set up pixel now and get help from your website developer to set up the pixel on your website and start collecting data.

Your business manager is now ready to operate. Let's quickly go through the process of creating your first ad. From your Business Manager dashboard, click Business Manager on the top left. Under the Advertise tab, click Ads Manager, then click the green create button. Choose your campaign objective, target your audience, set your budget and schedule, and choose your specific ad types and placements. I will go through the step by step process in my next article.

I hope this article helps simplify the Facebook Business Manager tool for everyone. Do let me know if you have any queries or if you want any more details.
