No More Passwords? Web 3.0?is here.
In a joint effort to make the web more secure and usable for all, Apple, Google, and Microsoft?announced plans to expand support for a common passwordless sign-in standard created by the FIDO Alliance and the World Wide Web Consortium . The new capability will allow websites and apps to offer consistent, secure, and easy passwordless sign-ins to consumers across devices and platforms.?
Password-only authentication is one of the biggest security problems on the web, and managing so many passwords is cumbersome for consumers, which often leads consumers to reuse the same ones across services.
Users will sign in through the same action that they take multiple times each day to unlock their devices, such as a simple verification of their fingerprint or face, or a device PIN. This new approach protects against phishing and sign-in will be radically more secure when compared to passwords and legacy multi-factor technologies such as one-time passcodes sent over SMS.?
Facey Replicates The TikTok Algorithm
First it was Insta and now Facey looks set to change its algorithm to take on TikTok. The Insta-revolt happened in less than 2 weeks - where we saw profiles rolling out the video-based feed only to switch back without notice within days (thankfully). Now Facey is playing catch up and Facey?employees were given a directive to make the app's feed more like TikTok .?
The short-form video format is challenging social screentime and Facey doesn't want to be left behind. But is it already too late? And is that what you go to Facey for? The change is set with the algorithm -?rather than prioritise?posts from accounts people follow, Facebook’s main feed will, like TikTok, start heavily recommending posts regardless of where they come from.
If I wanted recommended content, perhaps that would be the reason I'd use TikTok over Facebook. But I don't. I follow accounts for a reason - because I LIKE THEM.

Glucose could power medical implants
Being diabetic myself, this caught my eye.?Not so much marketing, but it's pretty awesome. A group of engineers at MIT’s Department of Materials Science and Engineering (DSME) and the Technical University of Munich have designed a new type of fuel cell that can convert glucose directly into electricity. In the future, the device could be incorporated into medical implants, allowing these implants to be powered directly from the body itself.
The ceramics used to devise the fuel cells are non-toxic, cheap to manufacture, and can withstand the temperatures used to sterilise medical devices prior to implant. If successful, these fuel cells could pave the way to the development of much smaller implants, as, currently, batteries can take up as much as 90% of an implant’s volume. Conventional batteries also have a limit as to how small they can be made. Because the fuel cells directly convert energy rather than storing it, they can be made very small.?How's that for a Monday morning read!
Have you trademarked your brand?
Did you know that not trade marking your brand can result in tens to hundreds of thousands of dollars in rebranding or legal costs? It also means that you're protected when selling online, allows you to license your products, and increases your business valuation.
A trademark is one of the easiest and most valuable forms of intellectual property to protect your business brand and distinguish your goods and services from other businesses. IP Australia has launched a new simple guide and a free new tool to check if your trademark is available.
