The Marketing AI Newsletter
The use of AI in marketing is moving fast. Some of the advancements are important, and some are not. I sort the marketing AI wheat from the chaff and share the news and insights you need to stay informed.?
ChatGPT declares itself as Google's rival
OpenAI has announced SearchGPT, a new AI-powered search engine created to compete with Google. SearchGPT aims to provide summarised answers and relevant details instead of providing links. Unlike Perplexity (a web summary app), OpenAI claims SearchGPT will drive traffic to content creators' sites, and they have collaborated with news organisations, such as The Wall Street Journal and Vox Media, to develop SearchGPT.?
What does this mean for marketing? If this trend continues, and it looks like it will, then SearchGPT could shift the focus towards creating high-quality, authoritative content tailored to meet the specific goals that users have when they perform a search.? It contains tools that let you manage how your site appears in search results. In the near future, marketers may need to adapt their SEO practices, prioritise personalisation, and leverage AI-driven analytics to remain competitive in this evolving landscape.?

Video AI tools update
The global text-to-video AI market is expected to grow significantly, from $162.9 million in 2023 to $1.4 billion by 2030. This growth highlights the increasing demand for automated content and the potential for AI-generated videos to transform digital marketing.
LTXStudio has joined the long list of AI companies promising to make lifelike images move. But unlike most of their competitors, LTX has considered the entire production process. If video is your thing, then join their waitlist here https://ltx.studio
What does this mean for marketing??There will be a rush for AI-generated video content, which I predict will quickly both overwhelm end users and cause AI fatigue. I believe craft will win out fairly quickly with well-told stories that create emotion rising to the top of the SEO pile.?

Marketing uses AI only 7% of the time
Recent research from The CMO Survey reveals that despite the hype, companies use AI in marketing only 7% of the time. Some of the challenges marketing faces are the accuracy and authenticity of content generation, concerns about how data is used by generative AI and internal resource and skillset expertise.

Researchers Caution Against AI Content Boom
This week, researchers warned that as more content on the internet is generated by artificial intelligence, AI systems might "collapse" into producing nonsensical information.
Researchers discovered that after a few cycles of generating and training on content, AI systems can churn out repetitive and nonsensical outputs. For instance, a system trained on medieval architecture text began generating endless lists of jackrabbits after just nine generations.

Researchers warn that this phenomenon might contribute to the "dead internet theory," which posits that the web is becoming increasingly automated and self-referential.
What does this mean for marketing? There is nothing to worry about today, but it could impact digital marketing in the future. I personally believe we should avoid "pumping" more totally AI-generated content onto the internet and consider how AI can assist with improving efficiencies in marketing operations and help professionals deliver quality content. As Shuntaro Furukawa, the president of Nintendo, recently said, "AI can help with things like quality assurance and playtesting, but the creative process remains in human hands".
That’s your week of AI marketing news; you’re up to date :)
