Is Marketing Actually Adding Value?
Marketing Is Identifying & Meeting Human & Social Needs
We have all heard of this popular hackneyed definition to #Marketing by our very favorite, Philip Kotler! How many times do we as marketers actually think of identifying & meeting actual human needs? Actual social needs?
We are all driven by a whirlwind of catchy Instagram Boomerangs & Adverts that seemingly convey value in less than a minute, catch our eye balls & let them loose to play around once the value has been conveyed.. Do we really need the products we see as consumers? Sometimes so much so purchase? What's driving us & our behaviour? Is it impulse? Is it social acceptance? Or is it something else we have yet to explore?
With nearly half of Gen Z almost always online & 72% of them glued to Instagram Squares, we do have an enormous opportunity!
The only thing that brands need to focus on is focus. Focus to the main pain they're solving, focus to the ancillary pain points that are solved along & focus to the customer need that is at the core of our practice...
At the end of it, we are out there to make a difference.. We are there to serve..to help alleviate pain. Lets try not to hard sell, manipulate or deceive the very customers whom we care for, empathise with, curate products for & whose very wallets we get our pay cheques from..
Lets build trust as trust is what builds everything else at the end of the day..
There's a reason customers don't trust brands anymore. Are we bringing value to the table? Are we communicating the value that we bring? Are we genuinely out to serve customers? Do we demonstrate that value addition or intent through our actions? Lets think about this!
