Marketing 4 One, Please!
I had been struggling with moving the marketing needle lately and started feeling down on myself. I didn't realize how much of a funk I was in until my boss helped me put it into perspective.
He said, "You're like Patrick Mahomes right now—but you don't have a Kelce to throw to. How can you expect to make it to the Superbowl without a team?"
After we laughed about his football analogy, I realized he was on point.
He called out something that had been nagging me for a while, but I could never chase down what it was.
And then, it came to me. It was that I was a team of one.
I didn't have any Kelces to throw the ball to, and I certainly didn't have anyone protecting me on the offensive line. I was exposed- out on my own - isolated.
As the only marketer in my company, this revelation shouldn't have come as a surprise. Because, duh, I'm the only one who holds a marketing title.

However, despite being a team of one, I realized that I don't have to work in a silo. I have a vast database of mentors, colleagues, and marketing thought leaders to reach out to.
I had been working like an ostrich with my head in the sand, trying to do it alone, so the thought of reaching out to my network didn't occur to me.
This is why I'm starting this newsletter: Marketing 4 One.
I can't be the only solo marketer looking for support or guidance from their peers. I can't be the only one running the marketing engine alone. Focusing on KPIs, SEO keywords, metrics, long-form content, and PPC campaigns.
So, I wanted to create a place with no agenda or KPIs to report on. The content here will be all about marketing. It won't be about hitting keywords or meeting metrics; it's just a place where we marketers can talk about...you know, marketing.
So please, take a seat and join me in this new adventure of Marketing 4 One. You better believe I will make room at the table for you.
