Full disclosure: I'm not a huge fan of social media these days, especially after watching The Social Dilemma. It does serve a purpose, though, and for the purposes of the whole entire world finding out about your book, there's no better way for your neighbors, friends, co-workers, 3rd grade teacher, and anyone else you've ever been connected to (and are probably friends with on Facebook) to find out you released a book than to create a great book launch graphic or two.
It's true, your social media images offer great branding opportunities for you. They can put eyes on your book that might not otherwise have found it. As I suggested, you should definitely:

The only other thing I'll say about social media is that I no longer just "hop on to see what's happening." If you've ever thought, "I'll just spend two minutes on Facebook" and found yourself still there thirty minutes or three hours later (or is that just me?), schedule time to do your author social media marketing, and set a timer on your phone (and a time limit in your phone settings). That will allow you to make progress while not derailing your productivity. You're welcome. :-)
