Market Update
Middle of the week and we continue to see consistent freight volumes that are outpacing last years levels. Even with the increased and steady volumes that we are seeing, rejection rates continue to sit below 4%, opening today at 3.9%. Currently, all 3 major equipment types show rejection rates under 10% with van loads being rejected at 3.52%, flatbeds at 4.62% and reefers at 9.84%. The Evansville, IN Market
· The Evansville market has had a very strong 1st half of the year, with volumes up 36.5% year to date
· The higher volumes have shifted the market to an attractive head-haul market for carriers
· Last week volumes out of Evansville increased almost 22% and capacity reacted accordingly with rejection rates increasing to 6.66%
· Loads within the 450-850 mile mileage band are being rejected at 12%
The Cincinnati, OH Market
· Volumes out of Cincinnati jumped over 13% yesterday to reach the highest point since April
· Capacity is still very loose with rejection rates around 4%
· Cincinnati is an attractive market for carriers given the increased volumes, and even if they can’t find a load directly out of Cincinnati they can deadhead to Columbus which supplies over 2% of the nations volume
The Portland, OR Market
· After peaking last week, volumes out of Portland have fallen off this week
· Reefer capacity in the area is somewhat limited with rejection rates at 13.46%
· Dry van capacity is readily available with a rejection rate under 2%
· Carriers are hesitant to accept long-haul loads (850+ miles) as they carrier the highest rejection rate at over 5%
· Loads with 450-850 miles are the most desirable to carriers
