Market Price of Livestock Products in China During the Third Week of October

According to monitoring of 500 counties and collection points nationwide, during the third week of October (collection day was October 17), the prices of live pigs, commercial egg pullets, and commercial broiler pullets increased compared to the previous week, while the prices of piglets, pork, chicken, beef, mutton, and feed products decreased. The prices of eggs and fresh milk remained unchanged compared to the previous week.
The average price of piglets nationwide was 36.28 yuan/kg, down 2.2% from the previous week and up 34.1% year-over-year. Piglet prices increased in Shanghai and Chongqing, while they fell in 26 provinces including Shaanxi, Jiangsu, Tianjin, Hebei, and Ningxia; Hainan's prices remained unchanged. Prices were higher in the Northeast region at 38.55 yuan/kg, and lower in the Southwest region at 33.81 yuan/kg. The average price of live pigs nationwide was 18.40 yuan/kg, up 0.5% from the previous week and up 16.3% year-over-year. Live pig prices increased in 18 provinces including Jiangxi, Zhejiang, Beijing, Jiangsu, and Fujian, while they decreased in 10 provinces including Gansu, Qinghai, Hainan, Chongqing, and Sichuan; prices remained unchanged in Hebei and Hubei. Prices were higher in the Southwest region at 19.09 yuan/kg, and lower in the Northeast region at 17.88 yuan/kg. The average price of pork nationwide was 29.92 yuan/kg, down 0.5% from the previous week and up 15.5% year-over-year. Pork prices increased in seven provinces including Jiangxi, Fujian, Guangdong, Yunnan, and Tianjin, while they decreased in 21 provinces including Ningxia, Chongqing, Jiangsu, Shaanxi, and Shanghai; prices remained unchanged in Hunan and Hainan. Prices were higher in the East China region at 31.52 yuan/kg, and lower in the Northeast region at 27.51 yuan/kg.
The average price of eggs nationwide was 11.22 yuan/kg, down 0.4% from the previous week and down 5.3% year-over-year. In ten major producing provinces including Hebei and Liaoning, the price of eggs was 10.19 yuan/kg, unchanged from the previous week and down 3.5% year-over-year. The average price of chicken nationwide was 23.70 yuan/kg, down 0.1% from the previous week and down 1.6% year-over-year. The average price of commercial egg pullets was 3.93 yuan/per chick, up 0.5% from the previous week and up 5.1% year-over-year. The average price of commercial broiler pullets was 3.73 yuan/per chick, up 0.8% from the previous week and up 12.7% year-over-year.
The average price of beef nationwide was 67.49 yuan/kg, down 0.4% from the previous week and down 18.3% year-over-year. In major producing provinces including Hebei, Inner Mongolia, Jilin, Heilongjiang, Shandong, and Xinjiang, the price of beef was 56.08 yuan/kg, down 0.3% from the previous week. The average price of mutton nationwide was 69.96 yuan/kg, down 0.3% from the previous week and down 10.1% year-over-year. In major producing provinces including Hebei, Inner Mongolia, Shandong, Henan, Sichuan, Gansu, and Xinjiang, the price of mutton was 64.07 yuan/kg, down 0.3% from the previous week.
Regarding the price of fresh milk, the average price in ten major producing provinces including Inner Mongolia and Hebei was 3.13 yuan/kg, unchanged from the previous week and down 16.1% year-over-year.
