Market pick up, more bank mergers and RTO dramarama

Good things are happening here at Harrison Rush Global Headquarters. For the first time in a few months, I am feeling positive about hiring trends. I am not ready to say things are picking up, but they are not slowing either. I would characterize it as slowly improving. Speaking with a few ECM bankers it looks like ECM deals are starting to pick up and my colleagues in various coverage groups are also talking about a slow pick up in deal activity. If you are unemployed, I advise still casting a wide net. Hiring freezes are everywhere. Just because deal flow may be picking up does not mean the lateral hiring market will simultaneously improve. There will be a lag of a few months. I also think if you are employed and comfortable in your seat you should be careful in considering a move. The motive to move this year is driven by job security not better compensation. Bonus will be bad no matter where you work but at least you may have a seat. ?

The Inside Scoop-?

SMBC and Jefferies further strengthened their partnership. Jefferies in effect will act as the investment bank for SMBC. ?

I am hearing about more bank M&A deals to be announced over the next few months?

Pushkar Batra is leading Credit Suisse to head tech services at Deutsche Bank?
